Effective immediately members are no longer able to 'fail' anybody. The fail button was removed in order to keep Revscene a more positive place for members to chill and/or be marginally retarded without having other members call them out on it. Now you can be all you can be and not have to worry about others branding you in a negative way! Of course there is fight club should you wish to have an 'E-brawl' with that special someone.

We have kept the Thanks button though because people who are helpful should be recognized for it. Thanks for reading!

Agree. I'm glad the button was removed. A lot of people like to jump on the fail bandwagon just because they see other people failing the OP. Many times it's the result of misinterpretation of the OP's story or false assumptions about the OP due to lack of reading comprehension.

Honestly, I'm kind of against this Fail function being removed.

I always proof read my posts prior to posting to avoid Fails, and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Now with the Fail button removed I'm 99% sure everybody who proof reads, including myself will not proof read as often, or might not even proof read at all, which will result in a lot of hard to read/understand posts.

Yes, it can help derail threads, but now Fight Club will be more empty than it already is, if e-thugs can't get mad over somebody failing one of their posts.

The Fail Button helps me screen through the good and bad posts in the Fucked up shit that makes you laugh forum, as well as the Twanger and White Chicks thread.

Revscene is the only forum I've ever seen that has anything as unique as the Fail button, and while I thought it was retarded in the beginning, I found that it actually is kind of fun, entertaining and useful.

Not having a fail button is like being in a Kindergarten Class, where you have to play nice all the time, and can only encourage each other. I see the good in taking away the fails, but I believe the bad outweighs the good.

I understand your point completely and it makes a lot of sense, but there's one thing I would like to add. Removing the fail button has not forced everyone to place nice and encourage each other, it's only forced people to take their time and consider fellow members points more carefully. When you disagree with someone you won't be able to quickly fail someone or jump on band wagons, you'll now need to take the time to write a post stating why you disagree.

I believe removing the fail button will be a great improvement to the forum, because people will be more honest in their posts and members will take the time to write rebuttals since they can't just click fail.

Your motive for wanting a revised fail system that favors long term members, by preventing them from receiving childish fails is identical to the reason I want to see fails taken away. I think he realised that his combative, arrogant posting style would probably get him one the highest fail counts on the board.

I will admit though, even if I disagreed with him he at least had good reasoning behind his opinions... I remember getting in arguments with him from way back, the difference now is that I've mellowed out in the amount of flamage and name calling where he has not really done the same.

Considering the fail rating means ABSOLUTELY FUCK ALL, does it really matter? So someone goes through failing every post he sees - it doesn't affect the posters, or the price of gas, or global warming, or anything else except making that person look like a douche... so really, who cares?

you can actually thank orgasm donor, niteraven, and rb. they made the first major decision as admins, i implimented the change, it sparked a good debate and made it aware that changes to the system were needed. if the initial action was not made, the fail would have gotten way too out of hand, and it would have just straight out be canned, instead it was caught early enough that changes could be made.

new ground rules, limits per day on how many fails u can give.
limits on which forums are failable are the 2 that come to mind.

All that have had their fail buttons forcibly taken away before the complete removal of the button shall remain that way. This action is not that retroactive . We DID mention before that if it were to be individually taken away, it'll be gone forever.

That's how the situation is. If you feel like you need to contact someone to appeal, you'll need to contact skinnypup,he controls the actual button not I nor any of the mods or admins.
