Canada Post Question

Sorry if this is in the wrong section, wasn't really sure where to put this.

I was supposed to receive a package on Wednesday but I slept in and didn't answer the door. Normally they would leave a slip in my mailbox for me to pick it up, but there wasn't any. I checked my tracking status online and it read

"Recipient not located at address provided. Item being returned to sender."

USPS's Tracking status read

"We attempted to deliver your item in CANADA at 2:00 pm on December 22, 2010."

I was at work all day today so I wasn't able to call them about it, but the updated tracking status on Canada post now says.

"2010/12/23 16:25 RICHMOND Item processed at postal facility"

Their customer service hotline closes at 6pm, and I got off work at 6:30pm. I e-mailed them about the situation, but was noted that I would get a reply roughly in 3 business days. By then my parcel would already be back in LA.

Basically my question is, what's going to happen. Am I going to have to pay shipping again? My purchase was $15, shipping with USPS was $35 which is ridiculous and DDMTuning only let me ship to my billing address so I couldn't ship to Point Roberts. Where do they process shipments before they're flown to their destination. I'm willing to try and pick it up right now to avoid waiting another 3 weeks for my package.

Edit: My address is correct too, no typos

that's very odd that they would return to sender instead of take it to ur nearest postal outlet... never had that happen

Are you checking the tracking number on the USPS website or the Canada Post website? Try giving Canada Post a call instead of USPS. They'll have more up to date information about the package then USPS, considering it's them handling the package now. I might even try going to the deport where your missed package would usually be sent. Ask them there if they can help you find out what exactly is happening with your package.

I would try calling Canada Post but their hotline closes at 6pm, and I had today and tomorrow. I would try going to the deport if I knew where it was :l

Where does your packages go when your not home to sign for it? It's usually a local Canada Post office/store in your neighborhood right? Just go there, explain your situation and ask them to put your tracking number into the computer they have there.

check the tracking number at www.canadapost.ca and not the USPS website.

once the parcel is in Canada, the USPS does not really help you out.

realistically if the parcel was tagged correctly with the proper address and the letter carrier/parcel driver found the house, you were probably left a Notified item card at which point just look at which store your package would be at and go pick it up.

hope that helps, if not PM me and ill try and locate your parcel for you.

On a slightly related note, DDM is horrible to deal with, never had such problems with stock and dealing with shipments with any other company.

go to your nearest post office and get them to do a pick up search (bring your ID) if they have it there.
sometimes the postman don't leave notices or it gets lost.
