i know content is limited at the moment ,but anyone have any suggestions as of good 3d content out there?
hows GT5/black ops in 3d?
any "must have" movie titles?
online sources for content?
and what about pc games? is the nvidia kit required?

there are only a handful of movies in 3D blu-ray.... avatar would be the best bet, but its for panasonic 3D TV owners only.
GT5 is pretty good with the in car view... anyways, there are really nothing for the 3DTV shit... I've only used it a few times with mine... usually just let friends see how its like

most 3D movies are locked to different brands so they kind of screw you
your best bet is to download the 3d disc
its either that or buy a different branded piece of equipment for each movie u want ;)
you can go to blu-ray.com for 3D blu-ray disc reviews there are a couple that are not worth buying

If anything is gonna kill 3DTV, it's this kind of bullshit. Don't these idiots realize they're shooting themselves in the foot with these kinds of antics?

damn, now thats a pretty stupid move for them, content should be universal.
but anyway, arent there some sort of nvidia or 3rd party drivers out there allowing 3d content in games? even Pre-3dtv era games

I think it's more like a timed exclusivity thing, kinda like exclusive console releases... eventually, all the rest will get it.

It's still stupid (assuming it's true). What if I have two different brands of 3DTVs in the house? Does that mean I have to have two copies of each movie?
Is this presumably based on different manufacturers using different 3D technology? What happens then when you get into broadcast 3D (like HNIC)? Is that only going to work on certain TVs?
Even just the need to check a movie when you buy it, to make sure it will work with your specific TV... that alone is enough to turn your average consumer off of the idea. People don't want to have to think about shit like that. There are enough different factors to consider when researching a new TV, without needing to worry if it's going to work with future content... just ask anyone who has an HD-DVD player at home.

I think the movie will work on any equipment but for a movie like Avatar you have to own a Panasonic TV to be able to buy a copy of the movie.

that's pretty gay if only some movies work on some TV's. what a way to kill the whole thing.

the vendor locking thing is very gay. This technology has a ways to go before its ever mainstream.

nvm
for example movies like avatar 3d is a panasonic exclusive, meaning that only people who bought a panasonic tv gets a copy of the movie. The movie itself isnt locked or anything, so you can watch it on other TV's, you just cant buy it yet in the store.

^That makes a lot more sense.
BTW, Shaw now has 3D content on their Video-On-Demand service:

There are tons of 3D on torrents..............
Plz dig deeper..........
My fds has whole load 3D contents in BD about 2TB already.
Like Avatar, How to train your dragon, IMAX Under the Sea, Shrek 1,2,3,4, Resident Evil 4, Alice WonderLand,...........etc. Shit loads man...
Also, there are shit loads of 3D movies are coming in 2011....so on.
Just think about how many 3D movies in the theatre now............
Hot movies like, POTC 4, Transformers 3...etc. are all in 3D next yr.
Most likely, All the Action, Si-Fi movies will be all in 3D very soon. Only drama's will stay 2D.
Plz check more on movie trailers...you'll find even more 3D.
It's all about how you think, how long you ganna keep your TV.
If you are the person who is changing TV every 2 yrs. I would wait.
But, If you ganna keep your new TV for like 5~7 yrs, I would go for 3D if the price is right.

10rmb how? oO zero-profit? (even negative profit)
cheapest place you can get blank discs, even in bulk, its still like $2usd a disc (super bulk) and that's not retail its like $4-6 retail a disc (in bulk)
+ they have to burn the movie and make profit for the movie... and pay for the employees etc
id believe 20-40rmb (considering it costs like 150rmb+ legit regular non3d)
and since the story is coming from you i call bs :)
(plus theres not that many 3d blu-rays available for download even yet; so its only a "shit load" if you mean 40ish)

bluray media don't cost more to produce than a blank DVD or CD
especially when you can get the disc directly from the factory, each disc don't cost more than 2 RMB
ur so call wholesale is already marked up for a few hundred percent already.

no that's not true actually
ppl think they're the same thing but that's a misconception
there was a whole discussion and corporate/expert explanations in the past etc. about it
you're wrong there
granted if you had access to the plant and bought/stole discs in quantities extremely great in number then discs would be cheaper
bleh too lazy to find the article that actually gave you the price per disc (but the info is pretty old when there werent that many plants printing discs)
anyway, in response to you: nope :P
edit omg big fail by me i was thinking about name brand discs However i still maintain 10rmb a pirated BD is still too cheap :P
edit 2: yeah it costs around 266% more for a blu-ray disc than a dvd disc as a of '08, for manufacturers (prices have been plumetting i guess) $3.50 for a whole package (so that includes disc, case, art + burning; this price does not include licensing fees, strictly the aforementioned so a lot less for simply the disc) so... Okay so after 2 years that price must have dropped a bit more so... i may be a little more inclined in believing u Hyde :P still something doesnt seem right :D

do you have friends that actually own and operate a factory that produce blank media?
sure, the factory brought in half a million US worth of equipment initially to produce blu-ray, and it was producing them at not even close to capacity due to the fact it was still new on the market.
accord to my last visit to my friend's factory, their blu-ray production line has already reach full capacity. and 4 years has past since the introduction of bluray. production cost currently is no more that a DVD
maybe you should go and actually find a manufacturer than reading about corporate explanation on forums.
how the fuck do u think they can sell for $4-6 bucks in north america when the cost is no more than 50cents in RMB?

oh no tnis is turning into one of your fairy tales is it hyde, if you look at economic analysis of the bd indstry and read the press releases fom blu-ray authoring companies u'll see that its not the same price as dvd. Piraters arent goung to be making any profit by selling pirated blu-rays for $1cad ,
how bout instead of turning this into a fairy tale you simply take a pic of the street stand selling pirated bds for $1

no one sells bd at the price of dvd u idiot, but cost of production is the same. just becuz verbatim ordered 1 million disc at $5RMB each doesnt mean it cost 5 bux to manufacture. the factory isn't gonna just produce 1m disc just for the order, they will produce more and these would be sold off to the locals. how the fuck do u think the factory makes money?
dvd blanks are around 75 cents each, dual layer bluray 50G are about 2-3 RMB each
btw, $10 RMB for a bluray is my price, I'm sure if u walk in, they would charge you at least $30 :fuckyea: actually, they won't even show u the hidden room to the pirated section....
StylinRed

hidden room for pirated movies? rofl oh god major fail
and who's talking about verbatim? im talking about the firms that are authoring discs for the movie industry
so sad hyde, as usual

Can anyone with a 3D setup explain what you need to make it work, especially for a PS3. Thanks!
I have a PS3, a Yamaha HTR 3063 receiver which is 3D "compatible" (whatever that means!) and an older Samsumg plasma TV. I'm guessing I only need to replace the TV with a 3D TV, and the 3D output of the PS3 will flow through the 3D compatible Yamaha receiver to the 3D TV. Right?

yeah, your receiver has to be 3d ready, and u need the hdmi 1.4a cables. From your ps3 to your receiver, and then from receiver to TV.
for those who dont have a 3d receiver, i believe you can run hdmi directly to your tv from your ps3, then an audio out line from your TV to your receiver
