The North Korean citizens received a rare Christmas gift from the Communist government. British movie, Bend it Like Beckham, is broadcasted on state television for the first time. It is unusual for any western movie to be displayed on North Korea television. The movie was arranged by the British Embassy and it was shown for an hour.

The programme was monitored in Seoul on December 26th and reports mentioned the movie appeared to be edited.

lol why must it have to be 'bend it like beckham'?

Ohh I'm sure it was very edited and many scenes removed how else do you fit it into a one hour time slot

LoL... shown for an hour?

I would love to know what kind of version they showed.

They probably somehow ended up splicing in North Korea winning the World Cup at some point.

normal north korean get to watch only 1 channel on their television. 24 hr propaganda.

also every home has a built in state radio that also play propaganda from day to night. unlike the tv though, you can't turn the radio off you can only turn the volume down.
