| Big ass Bump in Langley.
On 200th street in langley there is a HUGE bump due to construction and its really hard to see it at night. The truck infront of me literally FLEW and when i saw the bump i braked but i still felt something scrape and im not even lowered so for the people that are lowered WATCH OUT its really really dangerous. Below are the locations of the bumps.
the first picture is just to show the location of the bump, the picture is when it was smooth now its a big plastic bump

man me and my dad always called the engineers retarded when we saw how they built that overpass. they had piled up styrofoam (or something that looked like it) as the base and then covered a small layer of dirt over, before they paved it. it only took like a week before the first crack happened after they opened it up. they've repaved the whole thing at least twice (that i've noticed) and it's STILL fucked up where they need the ramp to cover the crack.

Can't forget the hay they used as well as the styrofoam. All normal, but they did this in very cold weather. IIRC, by the time they found the overpass spreading apart from the ramps, it was too late to go after the construction company. The off ramp from freeway east to the overpass heading has a gap that is getting wider over time. The last time I checked the gap was at around 4 to 5 inches. They keep filling/fixing it, but you can tell how much it has moved by the gap in the railing.

The bump/dip in the bridge was caused by unexpected settling of the earth post-construction; as is typical with any large project, earth was placed on the locations of the columns pre-construction to limit the potential settling. The soil was softer than expected however, and as a result the dip/bump formed. Less the engineers fault than bad luck, soil tests can only tell so much.
What makes me laugh is that when the highway was first rerouted for the current work, many people didn't follow the curve, they just drove straight onto the site |

For what it's worth, they're doing nightly construction right now on that section in order to fix it... again.
And while it's a sudden bump, if my car doesn't scrape while hitting it at, erm... "the speed limit..." I'm sure everyone else will be fine. |

Its not too bad if your stopped at the light because you can slowly go over it but when the light is green its really a suprise when you go over it especially at night time, even if your going over at 50km/h it will make your car jump. I wouldnt make a thread on it if it wasnt serious.

I drive over it twice a day in a car that literally will not go over speed bumps while on suspension that splits your spine everytime you roll over a painted line.
Don't worry, I completely understand the warning though. It's a super surprise while you're driving it at night time. It's even more of a shock when it's raining and you're paying attention to where the painted lines should be instead of the actual road. |

yeah also in Coquitlam they are doing a lot of construction on Lougheed right beside highway 1.
old car was sitting 4" from the ground, and there was his huge hole in the middle of the road... almost totaled my car becuase of that shit... they gotta put some red flashing signs beside shit like this because the road is hard too see at night especially without much lighting around.

I used to work for the styrofoam company that they contracted. Its not the normal styro that people use for packaging but some high density stuff that is extremely heavy and solid. A bunch of us that worked there thought it was funny that they were using styro to build up the ramp.

Makes sense, I can imagine that amount of dirt would be expensive to move, buy and work with.

Driving on Lougheed is a lot more painful now.
