G for sure...
better interior
4 seats
more upscale
the con for Z33 might be...um, it may go a bit faster and handle better?

ok the speed is about the same
'04 G35 Coupe with CAI, 6 speed vs '04 350z with K&N filter, and full Borla exhaust and headers, also a 6 speed. 2nd and 1st gear rolls.

350Z for sure,
unless you need the 2 extra "seats" in the back, but honestly who uses a G coupe for the back seats.

If it's going to be his primary vehicle, those 2 extra seats make a WORLD of a difference
A 2 seater isn't as simple as it sounds... you need to go pick up two girls waiting for you, you're already screwed from the get go

if your persian: G35
but srs, 6-speed 350z looks like a nicer all around sports car.

^haha.
they're 2 different cars. it depends what you're looking for in the car. G35 is definitely more luxury with softer suspension and ride, 350z is the opposite.
personally i'd go with 350.

im asian and i drive a 350z lol, but the typical asian stereotype should be driving a bmw
I'm an asian in a G35! lol
I was stuck between these 2 as well. But like ENDLESS stated above, the 2 extra seats make a world of difference. Even though you're probably not gonna use them 90% of the time, sometimes you just need that bit of extra space to carry stuff, or what if with some strange twist of fate, you need to pick up 3 hotties? ;)
I tested both and went with the G. I just like the luxury of the Infiniti. I don't have crazy mod plans, and hell, you're not gonna win any races with a G or a Z anyway. So it really comes down to what you're looking for - more to the luxury side or more to the sport side. My G is fun to drive, but if backseats weren't a huge concern for me, and I was looking for a raw fun sportscar, I would take the Z in a heartbeat.
cheapskate
01-02-2011, 03:21 PM
350Z definitely!
Much more fun to drive! Screw the extra seats, I drive a coupe and I never use my back seats (I also like to use the lack of rear space in my coupe as an excuse to not give ppl rides :D)
And I don't think the G offers any more luxury than the Z other than a bit more interior space. Both have leather interior, both have similar quality stereo systems, both have optional nav, etc.

I vote G!
They're almost the same car, but the G isn't so boy racer, has back seats and looks nicer imho. A tiny step up from the 350z.

I'd personally go with the Z33
I think it looks nicer and is sportier, but then again I'm young and I'd mod it anyway and I think it looks nicer modded

If its going to be your daily driver I vote G, a two seater is nothing but headaches if you don't have another option. Despite my vote, I personally prefer the 350z; its lighter, faster, better handling, but those are all things you can upgrade if your into modding.
You can still daily drive a Z if you really want to, I just found the G more spacious and comfy.

i don't understand why you cant decide between a g35 or a 350z?
they are 2 totally different cars, the only common ground is the 3.5 vq motor, that's it
go with which one better suites your needs, either way, both are nice stock and modified
i personally own a g35 coupe (black on black 06 5at), im also looking to sell if your interested, pm me

Funny how you don't know much about your own car, they are very similar in many ways other than the motor, the chassis for instance.
IMO, id go with the g35 hands down.

you think the average person is gonna compare chasis? no, they will compare ride quality, engine/exhaust tone, looks, and luxury
its pretty obvious what to choose over when it ultimately comes down to a g35 coupe and a 350z, 4 seats or 2 seats
seriously, its not rocket science, either way i would go with an 06+ nicer features on both
jpark

imo i would go for the g35
yes its slightly slower than the z33 but honestly this 'slowness' that people say compared to the 350z really doesnt mean anything.. in the end its still a quick car
my friend has a 370z and having no back seats become really 'annoying' after a while.
but g35 coupes are everywhere.. 350z are bit more rare than the g coupes at least

Almost every aspect of the car hinges off the chassis; the suspension, styling, weight, braking. Its not a part you see when you compare the two cars superficially, but its what makes them nearly identical in many ways.
Just like a RSX and a 7g Civic share the same chassis, on the surface they are very different, but if you know what your talking about they are very similar.

^again, you are taking this technically, like i said the AVERAGE person isn't gonna care about its braking/ weight distribution on a turn or the suspension roll either, they are gonna want a car that is comfortable and useful plain and simple
when you compare a g35 and 350z the only thing you decide on is either you want 2 seats or 4 seats, that's it i don't know how to better explain it to you, most people in vancouver don't give a shit about that stuff, it just has to look good and be comfortable
and back on topic, either car the op chooses its a nice car, but definitely get an 06+ xenon headlights, led tail lights are the bigger difference among the years, also the auto's for the 06+ have down rev match technology and key less go and bluetooth

I would never buy a 2 seater if it were my only car! Performance wise meeh... unless you're planning to go tracking or Auto-X, all that extra power and performance isn't going to get your groceries any faster. Also, do you have a second car? I assume that you'll be getting a RWD model which won't get you anywhere when it snows.
Newer G35s and G37s are lookers. 350Z is too boy-racer for me. My summer DD is a 2 seater, can get inconvenient for sure. I'd go with the G35. You really can't go wrong either way, they're basically the same car.

Nothing needs to be explained to me, I know exactly what I'm saying and what your saying. You provided factually incorrect information, that the motor is the only thing they have in common, I corrected you. You continued to assume that no one cares about performance, that most people just care about the number of seats a car has, also incorrect. Someone who cares about performance will take braking, weight distribution and suspension role into consideration. If all the OP cared about was 2 seats or 4 seats I doubt he would have made this thread, I also doubt he would own a skyline.

I don't see any issue with a RWD car in the winter. People still managed to get around in the snow before FWD became the norm. With some experience and a set of snow tires, you'll be fine. Plus, there's an AWD G model if you're worried about winter driving.

a bag of sand (or rice) a good set of snow tires and away you go. some RWD cars have good weight distribution too.. shouldnt be too big of an issue in the snow.. my 944 was great in it.. as long as it didnt get too deep.

Whenever I see a G35 it's usually a persian dude driving it... especially 370z these days... or 300c (Rolls Royce Phantom :troll:)
350z usually driven by some white dude or asian guy most of the time.

If the average person is not going to care about the chassis, braking, weight distribution. and the engine is the only winning factor.
it seems like you want to suggest the OP to get an Altima Coupe or Maxima.

Bmw's

Middle class persians drive
Honda
Toyota
Nissan
if you dont beleive me go to a persian concert and take a quick drive around the parking lot or better yet go to persia foods in north van and look at the cars parked. Very few drive Acura's and Infiniti's, persians look exacly like turkish and italians maybe your mistaking the drivers.
G35 all the way. Looks more boss.

Its funny how races are stereotyped by what kind of cars they drive haha. I usually see 350z and G35 driven by asian guys but maybe that's because I live in Richmond?
Between those two cars, I think the G35 is a bit more classy. Its lines and proportions are sleek and will age well.

350z is more raw and more sportier (lighter)

Say you get the 350z, in the long run you're going to want to switch to a more spacious vehicle anyway for convenience. Sure the Z is great but a two-seater can be troublesome. I personally prefer the G35 because it looks great and feels a lot more luxurious and spacious as others have stated. Might as well get the four seater now than later right?
350Z for sure,
unless you need the 2 extra "seats" in the back, but honestly who uses a G coupe for the back seats.
i would sometimes have 1 in the back seat, but rarely 2.
the seats are made for chicks....guys don't bother.
to the OP, i had this dilemma as well. i went with the 2 extra seats...
the trunk space for the g35 still, it's not deep. but i'm still able to store 2 golf bags or 2 snowboards in there.
G is g'ed up.
lol look to the left
You also don't get a sunroof with a 350/370z, I'd go with the G35 for that reason alone, and definitely if you factor in the extra two seats.

I personally would go with a Z. I don't like having back seats in a 2 door. People expects you to drive them places :)
G35,the extra 2 seats makes the big difference, sunroof is a plus, and the g35 looks more luxury to me

I was once in this position a couple of years ago. I chose a 350Z because I honestly think it looks good stock and looks even better with wheels, kit etc...
The G35 is better as a daily driver but if I really wanted a daily then I would have gotten the sedan version of the G.
I find the G35 is a little bland, even with some decent wheels on it. Its not a really nice looking car until you start modifying heavily (like lowering, adding a kit and adding some nice wheels with an aggressive offset). Once you do all those though, the practicality goes out the window. The G does have a better interior and is slightly more family friendly.

Never mind the bonus seating space in the g35, it basically comes down to which car you think looks better op.
Hands down I would buy the g35

G35 gets my vote. Comfort and luxury the g35 is better for sure. Btw, I'm not Persian, I'm Asian lol.
@bloodmack umm I disagree when you say the 350z looks better.. Sure it looks good modded but that's alot of cash down the road lol. The g coupes look way better stock and don't look as cheap and dated IMO. My opinion alright? Besides whenever I see a z33 convertible I always see a huge rounded ass lol

Then why did you buy yours? stop trolling.
lol you're right i only posted that because it was already the 3rd page.
how i really feel about the two.
I got the g35, because i often will drive people and having the extra seats help. it also helps because I play hockey and a hockey bag just can't fit in a 350z.
Initially coming from a 240sx the vq35 was a huge upgrade and the quality of the entry level car was a plus too. The transmission was nice and smooth and so was the engine. although i was a bit disappointed with the engine after owning it for a few weeks. as well the car is surprisingly heavy, it's like 3500lbs! and a 350z is closer to 3100lbs. The suspension was comfy and semi sporty. The sound system is decent too if you aren't an audiophile, except the 6 cd changer does burn out.
Although compared to most cars, the car is decently quick but i was disappointed by it. As well both cars do have their share of problems as many cars do i guess
comfort wise the G35 is much more comfortable. a lot of people will say they're the same but they're not, the 350z has shorter and stiffer struts and sportier springs. the seats are also stiffer as well and with the shorter wheel base the 350z is a tiny bit less stable than the G enough for me to notice lol. not sure about the chassis though.
If you can i would get 07+ 350z or 06+ g35. they come with better engines and nicer interiors. second note, if i did get a 350z, which i doubt i would have unless i had another car, i would only get the convertible. Also i quite like the automatic transmission, it's decently smooth.
so in conclusion sometimes i wish i got a sedan, like a Legacy GT.
hope that helps OP.
so really do you want more of a sporty car? or a comfy/semi-sporty GT cruiser for the city/highway?
IMO, the g35 looks much better than the 350z.

http://www.canadiandriver.com/2009/08/20/used-vehicle-review-nissan-350z-2003-2008.htm
"Consumer Reports notes transmission issues in 2003 and 2007 models, but I didn’t see much in the way of specifics. There’s more than one mention of bad hydraulic clutch cylinders, so I suspect that’s the main culprit. Much as this is an inconvenient failure, it’s not an expensive repair, and simple enough to fix for the mechanically-inclined driver.
The transmission issue could also be related to the way the clutch operates: owners of 350Zs and the similar Infiniti G35 have complained of a clutch that’s hard to modulate and makes the car difficult to drive smoothly.
I’ve listed quite a few problem spots here, which may scare many shoppers away from the 350Z. Despite the long list, Consumer Reports recommends this car as a solid used car purchase, and I’d tend to agree, provided the seller has evidence (in the form of service records) that many of the common issues have been dealt with."
