Does anyone know the length of time that you need to "live" at a residence, in order to have it as your DL address, and address for your vehicle insurance?

Example: Say I'm living on the island, but doing work on the mainland. How much time do I need to spend back at the address on the island in order to keep my vehicles insured there? A couple people have told me that its 30% of the time, but I figured that someone on here would have a more definitive answer.

for island insurance.
the basic package is: 15kms, to and back from work /school starting from your residential area.

this type of package and mileage does not exist in vancouver and i exceed way more than that.

i live on the island.. and work in vancouver. my vehicles is always in vancouver and i insure it in vancouver. i rarely drive back to vic due to the ferry cost.

my friend @ icbc told me this is the correct way without voiding my insurance if something is to occur. for if you do get into an incident, it is no longer in the scope of your insurance policy.

vancouver insurance is approximately 40% more than Victoria and you need air care.. my old beater failed so i kept that on the island.

generally u have up to 10days to change ur address after u move to a permanent address.

If its Island to Van it SHOULD be(not 100% on this one, but im sure its not a %, it goes by days) if u know ur staying more then 30days.

yes u have to change ur policy to fit what ur doing.
In van we have a couple commonly seen ones:

-Pleasure
-to and from work/school UNDER 15km
-to and from work/school OVER 15km
-Business use
