I'm considering getting a small tat. Can anyone recommend a good place to get it done?

Dutchman Tattoo on 6th street in Burnaby.
It'll cost ya, but you don't want an ugly tattoo on your body.
:buttrock: I think they usually charge $200/hr. You get what you pay for.

last I heard it was ~3 month wait

True that.
I waited about 4 months for my turn. If you want the actual Dutchman...you'll probably 3x longer and cost you way more.
It kind depends on what you want. If you want just some words, any tattoo artist with cheaper rates can do that. But if you want some artwork, better to go with some seasoned veterns. I've seens some ugly blobs that are supposed to be fish on a person and i've heard tattoo removal hurts more than getting the tatty itself.

Yeah I just want something small but I would rather play a few hundred dollars and have it look nice then a hundred dollars and have crap on my skin.

if your just "considering" then you arn't ready yet.
Dutchmans is top notch but a lot of the artists are riding off Johns coattails and are not worth $200.
It depends what type of tattoo you want. If you want something small easy and generic, then a lot of the better artists will pawn you off to newer less experienced guy in the shop.
If you want something in particular style like japanese, americana traditional, New School, Bio Mechanical, etc then you should find a artist you specializes in that style.
Anyways we have A LOT of good tattoo studios around. Here are some off the top of my head.
Blackwater Tattoo
Funhouse tattoo
Tattoo Union
Eastside tattoo parlour
Craftmans tattoo
New World tattoo
Fat City tattoo
Dutchmans tattoo
Monkey King
Granville st tattoo
Lady Luck
Trigger happy
^ Yes to trigger happy, blackwaters, monkey king.
If you wish for a cheap, and quick with no waiting, $$$$$$$$$ tattoo is someone i would consider, he gives you reasonable quotes.

Oh ya forgot about Osmosis, Trevor I think it is who works there is a kick ass tattooist.
Judging from the gallery on their website I wouldn't go to 40 days 40 nights. Not very solid or clean tattoo work at all.

There's a good one down in Richmond, safe, professionalized, and easy. It's near the Skystation to Richmond, along the strip malls.
