: How much is a 1988 Mercedes 560 SEL worth?

It looks like this http://dspace.dial.pipex.com/town/way/dj63/motorsport/images/560SEL.jpg except the headlights/wheels are different.

The car is black with red leather interior. The interior/exterior is in mint condition - no scratches anywhere and the leather has not even wrinkled. The car has 55,000 original kms and there was nothing wrong with it mechanically but it has been sitting in the garage since 2005.

There is one on craigslist for $7000 in worse condition (from what I can see) but it's been up for a month and a half now so I'm not sure if that's above market value or not.

That year looks bauss as hell.

No idea on price, but if you're considering buying it, nice taste in cars :bigthumb:

I've seen a few done up properly and they look sick!

worth 8500, i would post it on for 9600 so that i could sell it for 8500+ . The way you described it, it sounds as if its in showroom condition not too mention it has only 55000k. Those mercedes are bullit proof, my dads friend in turkey has one and hes a taxi driver the car has around million km and its still going strong. Anyways its a really hard find, especially with RED interior :drool , all the ones ive seen either have blue or black interior.

Thanks for the info. If I can get a decent return for it I'd probably sell it, but like you said, it's pretty rare and holds some sentimental value.

It would be a decent choice to go VIP as well.. http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i67/theodenrem/Wald_Front_Side_560SEL.jpg

Has it been sitting for the last 5 years?

are you asking for market value or "what the owner wants for it" value?

Is it a local car? I've seen a few that I think tyee imported and they're JDM with that kind of mileage and those weren't worth much, for obvious reasons though

Yes, unfortunately.

are you asking for market value or "what the owner wants for it" value?

It's in my possession and I'm considering selling it so I'd like to know how much someone would pay for it.

It's local, LHD.

I don't think $7000-8000 is an unreasonable price, but it would certainly take a fair bit of time to sell since the pool of potential buyers is pretty small. The only person I can really see buying it is a serious import fan looking for a luxury car project who does his own maintenance..

I think the most I've seen a 7 series of the same era listed on craigslist for is $4000, this car is much more rare though and looks minty..

sorry to burst your bubble but a big displacement old Merc is worth next to nothing in today's fuel prices, economy and eco-climate...A 400D has its unique market placement but a gas Merc that's 22 years old won't take you very far in resale value. If it means anything to you then you might as well keep it.

Just to put in some perspective, a S500 from 1997 is $7900
http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/van/cto/2162218549.html

A 1992 600SEL is $4800
http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/van/cto/2137064689.html
hell buy this one for the 408HP engine to make crazy project. He says it has bulleproof windows too lol.

A 1985 500SEL is $3000
http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/rds/cto/2159400568.html

A 1987 560SEL is $500
http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/van/cto/2116141720.html

So I'd say you can get rid of yours at about $1000 - $3500 at best? No one cares about how mint it is it still has a huge engine and maintenance forecast that is not in tune with what people are expecting from a modern automobile these days.

Used Benz resale = :failed:

he should try to keep it in mint condition for another 100 year. Then maybe it will worth something. :hotbaby:

for $7000-$8000 the car better be as mint as possible. I havent even seen a "that clean" example for sale yet.

I would say a decent one should be no more than $5000.

Awesome cars though!

this one in victoria looks great for the price!

what type of problems on what mercedes are you having?

i know a good mechanic, but hes not mobile. if you want to get the car looked after, then towing the car to the shop would be the best bet.

My recommendation is Gold Wrench Automotives in North Vancouver.

not a Mercedes Mechanic, but works on all makes. He's quite knowledgable and i've seen plenty of Mercedes/BMW's at the shop.

you can search it up, and call in advance if you have any question.

on the corner of oak and marine drive (as you get off from the arthur laing bridge), there's a mechanic/small dealership there with plenty of older benzes. never got the name of the shop tho :( there's always a bluish w140 with amg rims parked out front.

dunno if they might be able to help you with your w126.
