I'm looking to get a headset for black ops.

I need it to be a stereo headset with a mic compatible with the 360. Are there any that don't have a million wires connected to it?

I'm currently looking at the steelseries 4xb or the cheap turtle beach ones for $40 or $50? Prefer to spend less than $60 but less is better.

Anyone have any recommendations?

Don't even bother, this game is not good for sound whoring. But if you wanna get it for just gaming in general. Turtlebeach is your friend.

I'm using the Turtle Beach X11 and it's great for Black Ops and gaming in general. I would recommend it.

I just want it because I don't want to disturb the other people in the house and still be able to chat with my buddies. I'm not hardcore enough to be able to tell where things are coming from lol. Guess I'll go turtle beach.

Well most of the standard ones are covered above, all wired thou.

If you want to have less wires, there is the Logitech F540 and the forthcoming Steelseries 7xb.

http://steelseries.com/us/products/audio/steelseries-spectrum-7xb

I have the G930 and the wired 7H. Personally they are extremely good headsets even for movies and music (not as much bass as Beats Studio but there is enough punch.) Very comfy for continuous long usage. Thing is they are around the $150 range.

For about $60 I've only owned the Steelseries 5H2V (5XB for xbox), they are supremely comfortable (wore them for 18+ Hr straight for Ulduar US 1st kills race back in the day) gaming sound is crystal clear and sounds directional. It is garbage for movies and music though as it basically has no bass at all.

I have the Tritton AX Pro, yet it is double your price range. I have read the lower priced Tritton headset are of poor construction quality and fall apart.

The sound quality is unreal, especially directional sound. When playing with the Tritton headset I can hear bullets whiz by, never noticed that even on my Yamaha surround system.

I wanted wireless, yet really wanted 5.1 sound, so I had to make a choice as it is difficult to find a headset that supports both wireless and 5.1 for the PS3 (also works with the XBOX). There's only 1 main cable, all the other cables stay with the main box parked beside my PS3. The XBOX unfortunately requires 2 cables, the main cable and a mic cable, so it might be more of a PITA.

thanks for the tip

i guess im leaning towards a 5.1 sound for the xbox

im looking towards the steelseries 5xb

however, im not really feeling the giant attachment thing that goes onto your controller.

is this where the wireless option is better?

can someone recommend me a good 5.1 xbox headset thats under 100$? i don't mind paying up to 150$ if its wireless ... and/or good for movies to

Lol your requirements are an exact fit for the 7xb which I mentioned a few post up.

Its only gonna be out in apr/may for US$149. The cable that attaches to the xbox controller looks pretty small from the ces preview vid (watch around 2:20-2:30)

Correct me if I'm wrong, yet I do not see anything that says SteelSeries are 5.1. They use a standard jack which is only 2.1, yet do offer processing to provide virtual surround.

I couldn't find a wireless headset that offers true 5.1 surround that would work with the PS3 (or XBOX). The closest was a Logitech headset that only works with a PC.

I forgot to post what I got lol.

I ended up getting the turtlebeach x11. Those headphones are pretty good. Comfortable and clear. Cables were really easy to set up and not as clumsy as I thought.
