Has anyone gone into the presentation centre or checked out the layout online?
I currently go to Golds. I wasnt going to bother checking it out, but I got an offer which is half what I pay now, but I'm hesitant to sign up for a gym that isnt even open yet.
Hey Mike, I go to Golds as well. How much cheaper is steve nash? and is it for the whole term or a few months promo?

i got this thing in the mail that said since i was a fromer fitness world member i can sign up for $24/mth, i pay almost twice that at Golds. They also waive the initation fee ($100+).
the contract is for a year, and I dont believe it goes up, but thats a good question i will ask that if i decide to switch.

I agree, its pretty bad now with the new year crowds, parking is horrible
When I signed up last weekend, they also told me if switching gyms they offer a rate of $29/mth

its not open yet, they said its not gonna open till April, but the membership will have access to all the other steve nash fitness world gyms.
it probably will be, but i'm only going to be paying roughly half the price as I was paying at golds.

the $24/mth or $29/mth promotion?
I know that the $24/mth promotion for people who used to be members of fitness world is good till the end of this month. With this promotion the activation fee is waived, all you need to pay is the $15 card fee.
Not sure about the $29/mth for switching over. I know that the activation fee which is usually around $150 is reduced to $50 or something.

I go to gold's as well.
I was thinking about it, but they want you to sign up now, and start paying. The fucking gym isn't even opened yet, why would I start paying now for a gym that won't even be done until April?
So I can use other Steve Nash gyms, but none are even close to me in Burnaby.
Apparantly the price will go up to $69 if you sign up in April.
I don't know, I'm tempted, but the Nash won't have a steam room or anything like that.

yah i didnt like that either, but with me and my wife both switching we save around $50/mth. I had to give one months notice to golds, and since the steve nash fitness world is suppose to open in april, i only have about one month where i'll have to workout somewhere else. i can live with that if i'm saving about $500 for the year.

certain past members got a promotion for $24/mth starting right away, no activation/initiation fee, only extra thing you need to pay is for the $15 card fee. The contract is for one year, and the rate doesnt change after that. This promotion end January 31st.
My wife might not have fallen into this category, but since she's switching from Golds, they offer $29/mth, and i believe around $50 activation/initiation.

I signed up for $39/month + 1 time $54 sign up fee on 12 month contract + 3 months free because I paid it all at once.
The gym will open in April, during that time your membership WILL start, but the pass they give you allows you to go to any of the other fitness worlds EXCLUDING the Sports Clubs. They do however give you a 10day pass to use at the Sports Clubs.

Alright so I just signed up for a membership at the Brentwood location and I signed up for a $29/month on a year contract and I just had to pay $15 dollar card fee.
So each month I would just be paying $29/month correct?
People are saying there's hidden fees within that contract?
Anyone have experience with this stuff at fitness world?
JSilver
03-01-2011, 09:00 AM
Hidden fees? Maybe you should thoroughly read the contract form you signed. I would also assume you'd be pay a little over $29/month due to tax.

I skimmed the contract over when I signed up, and i'm pretty sure you'll just be paying the $29+tax/month.
I was a member for 7 years, and never had an issue with this kind of stuff at fitness world.

I got mine for 30 per as well at the brentwood location. dude was trying to get me to sign the $39 per but I managed to negotiate to 30. the thing is that they dont have a set rate for each phases in fitness world. even if they have a higher "phase 2/3" rate, they will still go down to phase 1 prices. just need to negotiate them like crazy. they'd rather you sign up then walk away without anything.

If you're working out in the weights area, make sure to bring a water bottle because the closest water fountains are located at the other end of the gym (cardio area). Quite a huge annoyance for me, but I guess for some, they can check out the "view".

they also have a full compliment of kettle bells, a spin room and a general stretch/yoga room. They will not have punching bags.
What are you guys paying?
The girl offered 90 initiation fee and $50/month. It drops to $45 after 2 years for the basic package. For the tier 1 package with all the classes it's a $120 fee and $60/month dropping to $55 after 2 years.
The pricing scheme is nothing compared to Fitness World where it's $40/month for 2 years dropping to $20. The girl wouldn't budge on price so I'll be sticking to Golds where I pay $30/month.
Also, zero hotties

A gym is a gym, you go there to workout, and to improve your health, not to go there to be seen or be involved with groupie shit while taking up time and space on exercise equipment that others are waiting to use. A gym is not a place to social.
If being seen or "in" is that important to you, go sign up at Steve Nash Sports Club.

i think i expressed myself wrong, what i meant is that the heatbags in that area are probably going to be the ones socializing, thinking theyre nuts hogging the bench 3 people at a time. I hate it when fuckers do that at Bonsor or any rec gym, it takes up my time and takes up the space in the gym.

The only thing this gym needs are more squat racks, but other than that, I really like this gym.
Parking is really crucial though; from 4-9, I could say that's when it's really bad.
There are many types of cardio machines, so you won't have to worry about signing up for a time or waiting too long before getting on one.
Most of the people here are pretty nice as well. For instance, we had 5 people going on one squat rack, all of whom we do not know. This is way better than those usual community centres, who would hog the rack until they are finished.
