: How Many KM's?

cheapskate

How many KM's have you put into your ride? How is your car holding up? What's your secret? :D

Mine:
2003 Honda Accord V6 Coupe 6MT

120,000 KM's

Runs just as good as the day I bought it (new). (many people think my car is only 1-2 years new LOL) :D

The only thing I've had to fix was the power door lock on the passenger side in the 8 years I've own this car. Honda reliability FTW! :D

I use Mobil One synthetic oil and Honda OEM filters once to twice a year and thats it. :D

1995 BMW 530i

when i bought it 4 years ago - 150,000kms
now - 189,000kms

i've done lots of work, a top end rebuilt, but it still runs like a champ and is super clean. This car is my baby!

my secret is lubro moly synthetic oil. I've taken the valve covers, oil pan, cylinder head, and probably more. The engine is super clean inside with no signs of sludge. Also keep the coolant flushed regularly. Not intentionally but because of the odd leaks, i've flushed the coolant about 6 times since i took ownership.

My super high mileage fleet:
1986 944 turbo - 240,000 km
1992 968 - 260,000km
1999 528i - 320,000km

No catastrophic issues with any of them. In fact I just drove the BMW to Calgary and back this summer. Just regular maintenance and the odd leaky hose or leaky radiator or sensor that needs to be replaced. And if I take the time to vacuum and wax them, they look like they have 100,000 or less km on them.

99' Honda Accord 4Cyl VTACK.

100000k it was 94000 when i got it last spring.

My secret?

My car was never abused by its owners and everything was done on time, the previous owner was a old chinese lady she bought the car brand new and all she did was go to TNT and church and back home and sometimes she drove to LA to visit her children. She brought the car to the dealer for all services and now that i own it i always baby it and do all the maintainance myself.

09 corolla, purchased brand new in 2010.. 37200KM Added intake for better throttle response and lowering springs for better turns. Drives like a dream no problems. Besides the recalls all is good. I still have one more recall on shortening the pedal but i'm opting out for that as they cut it by hand and it looks like shit.. Plus i dont have all weather mats so i dont have to worry about a "stuck pedal"..

1991 Volkswagen Passat. Bought with 239,900 4 months ago. Now sitting at 243,000. Since I took ownership, the exhaust between the cat and the muffler has been replaced, oil changed, spark plugs and air filter changed, e-brake cable replaced due to freezing, cracked windshield replaced, and thermostat installed (it didn't have one for some retarded reason). Car has nagging idle problems due to a leaking distributor (common problem),and one of the rear wheel bearings needs a replacement.

However, it runs like a champ.

my other cars:

91 jeep cherokee XJ - 273k when i bought it. 285k when i sold it. Regular oil changes, replaced the waterpump, fuel pump and filter, serpentine belt, transmission fluid, valve cover gasket, thermostat and coolant temperature sensor. Did all the work myself. Parts are cheap. Other than that, the trunk ran like a top and gave me no problems.

87 Volvo 740 turbo wagon - 288k when i bought it, 292k when i sold it. Regular oil changes. replaced spark plugs, air filter, misc coolant hoses, exhaust manifold gasket, and rear brake pads. Again, ran like a top and no problems.

2003 Mercedes-Benz W203 C230k coupe
105,000km

Whole pile of random crap (such as trim panels, turn signal stalk etc.) broke over the years, all fixed under warranty. Car has never left me stranded though. Never needed anything other than oil changes every 15,000km, and brakes. Car is pretty bulletproof, especially that 5-speed autobox. Still on the original serpentine belt, coolant etc. Had the tranny fluid changed once to check for a potential problem specific to my model but the dealer told me it still had a ton of life left (factory fluid is rated for 170k iirc).

Stock handling wasn't too great (severe understeer), but some AMG sway bars and Brabus springs fixed a big chunk of it. Lots of fun to drive. Still enjoy it as much as the day I drove it off the lot. Car still turns heads. :D

german cars change oil between 10-25000k depends how big your engine is really. My dads X3 gets a oil change every 20k and its recommended by BMW, my neighbour gets a oil change every 25000k and his car is a X5 4.4
