Xbox 360 controllers questions

Can the wired ones made for the console be used for the pc as well? Is there a work-around to using them for the PC? Certain drivers or software required? Do the wired controllers connect via usb?
For the wireless ones, is there a receiver you can buy to have them connect to your pc?
Otherwise I'm assuming you're forced to buy the xbox 360 pc controller...
cheers

The wired ones connect fine on the PC no problem. Drivers should automatically install if you have windows 7 or you can search online.
The wireless controllers require a wireless dongle, which they used to sell separately. Now you will have to buy the bundle

Thanks, that clears up a lot. I'll probably do some searching for wireless dongle or receiver for the wireless controllers. If anyone knows of places that sell them separately, please let me know, it would be greatly appreciated :D
I've got a bunch of wireless controllers for my xbox 360, I was planning to use one of em for my pc. Looks like I got to pick up a wired controller for my pc instead!

sales guy at bestbuy told me the pc version is different than the regular wireless controller. told me i can't just buy a wireless receiver and use it with my wireless controller.
i found the wireless receivers on ebay but not sure if they will work with the wireless controller.

They lie. You can use any xbox360 wireless controller with the dongle.
I'm still waiting for mine, ordered one off of Dealextreme a while ago.

i'm using the controller to play dc universe.
the game was made for consoles so naturally its easier to play with a controller instead of kb/mouse.
but at the same time i dont want to play this game on the console cause the player base for MMO's are bigger on pc.
