I have faith that this can be a good movie but in terms of hype, it looks like fail.

Since they going back to the very beginnings of X-Men, most of the mainstream characters aren't in it and won't garner much hype to the general public. Superhero nerds (like me) I'm sure will be thrilled tho.

wow, I totally did not notice the sentinel in X3. like how i didn't notice jubilee and gambit that were supposedly on magneto's side. never saw it.

Don't be quick to judge based on 2 images.

Remember when Michael Keaton was the first Batman in 1989? People wrote letters and had petitions to cast someone else.

And of course we all know what everyone thought of Heath Ledger when they first cast him.

Marvel Studio's intentions for this movie is to make it dark and serious. So as long as they have a good story and good acting, they'll be fine.

Don't judge a book by it's cover i guess.

this movie looks like garbage, its supposed to be about the creation of the xmen. it doesnt even follow the original storyline, cyclops and gene grey were apart of the original xmen, i dont understand how marvel and hollywood have access to hundreds of stories from the comics and yet they choose to go there own route and create a storyline up themselves......alot of the characters arent even popular xmen characters... i will not watch this!

It's when they were best friends wanting to create a new world but had two different visions of the new world which caused them to drift apart and become enemies. (which is the original storyline) I doubt this is an xmen origins type of movie that they made up.

By the way, a lot of the characters in here are popular with xmen fans. The hellfire club? Sebastian Shaw? Emma Frost? Moira? These are all major characters in the xmen universe... I don't think you're actually a fan of the comics.. just a fan of mainstream xmen like cylcops and wolverine.

So it sounds like FOX is trying to get a 'Twilight' thing going with this movie (pandering to lil girls) they were even trying to cast some guys from Twilight to act in this film (taylor lautner) and they're even trying to re-cast a guy they got to play Beast because they think he's too old (28)

Oh I never really read the comics but i did which the original series as a kid and have done research on the past xmen storylines. the story is infact about magneto and xavier and there visions of how to create the new world. but i dont believe those characters were the ones involved in the original storyline from the comics. correct me if im wrong. my opinion stands on hollywood misinterpreting the storylines and making them untrue to the comics.

I remember getting so friggin excited when they teased us in one of the previous movies (can't remember which one! :( 2nd I think? ) where they are doing the simulation, and wolverine cuts the head of a sentinal off? So choked when it turned out to be a tease :(

I don't remember that far back into the xmen but I know the hellfire club was around. I don't think it was with emma frost though.. Moira is definately there from the beginning since she was Xavier's gf when he was young. Beast and Havok shouldn't be there though. Other than that it's pretty solid.

I'm pretty sure Magneto and Emma were romantically involved while he/they were leading the Hellfire Club. There is also a storyline in which Professor X and her were involved before he created the X-men too.

Just came back from seeing this tonight. I must admit that it was far better than I expected, though I did walk into the theater with very low hopes. While I wouldn't rate it as one of the better superhero movies, it's still definitely worth the price of admission.

some christian movie reviewer reallllllly didnt like that over @ blu-ray.com

and ranted about it for a good paragraph+

the movie was pretty good i didn't like a couple minor things like moira was American basically, no accent -_-; banshee was a kid; and the white queen/emma frost being strong enough to block Xaviers mind
oh and Xavier being really feminine even though they tried to counteract it with his picking up chicks but reallly minor issues

I liked Kevin Bacon though

overall enjoyed it 7/10

I didn't mind this movie at all. I thought it was great.
I haven't watched the older X-Men movies besides the first one.

But I considered this as a somewhat reboot.
And I'm not a hardcore X-Men fan, and barely know the story from the comics,
so I thought it was a good movie.

At first, I was iffy about the cast, but it turned out pretty good.

I have never heard of these characters, on their wikis it says
Darwin first appeared X-Men: Deadly Genesis #2 (February, 2006)
and Angel Salvadore appeared in 2001
They are not old school at all.

I didn't really like their random choice of characters. Especially for the hellfire club...... Azazel and Riptide??

Despite this, I still enjoyed the movie.

Is the way they showed xavier getting paralyzed in the movie what actually happened in the comics? been searching the net and seeing some different scenarios of how he became paralyzed

nope. it should be a by-product of his mutation
