That was an awesome start to the show. I find that it's best for people who have never watched this show before to fast forward the first 2 minutes. This way you get to watch how it all began then watch spartacus season 1 after.

I believe they are going forward with the show without Whitfield. Tentative release date is early 2012.

On the same note, what an awesome season premiere! Loved it! Wish it's a bit longer than 6 episodes though!

I'm not a blood person either, in fact because the gore is over the top makes it easier to take I find. When it's more realistic it's more nausiating. But I'm absolutely hooked on this show too, just like I was Blood in the Sand.

The Spartacus series is supposed to be a semi-fictitious representation of the era. Even the plot was loosely based on actual historic facts.

Don't get me wrong, the tits and the fighting/blood is awesome but I think the film makers wanted to stay true to some aspect of the society at that time. There are many things in the flim that are there to build some sort of authenticity such as the random flashing of tits from the female slaves. I think the barca homosexual stuff just stood out to you because it's not something you're accustomed to seeing

yea last nights episode was pretty sweet, love the story telling they do with this series, it's fantastic

Next week's episode should be really good though, it will be interesting to see what happens and how they spin both the deaths, i could see it going back to saying the wine was poisoned to begin with, but i dont know if that would make much sense as Titus was the one who was making the deal with Tullius, it will be interesting to see which direction they go with it and if Lucretia explains that she was the one who poisoned it or not, and not gatticus is pretty much fucked too since he's going to probably be staying at the house unless they sell him still to get into the arena

It's comic book style writing, much like 300. So they speak in short, telegraphic sentences except when the characters explain events to the audience (Lucretia tends to be the one who does this as she's on a side bar to the men's world even while she's in it). Letting Gannicus walk away a free man just seemed like a bit of a letdown given how much internal grief the guy had and I was hoping it would drive him to a better ending? Also, seeing that poor slave girl get caught and killed actually made me feel bad. I mean, I know she's a slave but this poor girl gets DP'ed for her first time and becomes a spampurse on demand, she deserved to get away! Haha
