Anti Immigration Organization

http://www.immigrationwatchcanada.org/

Anyone seen these guys? Some of their articles are hilarious.

For example, this paragraph cracks me up:

"The pursuit of “Diversity” is producing significant negative effects on UBC’s environment. UBC has a Housing Department which is in the private housing business. Like developers in Metro Vancouver, UBC’s Housing department relies on a constant inflow of immigrants to buy a significant number of its new housing units. This has transformed the UBC campus from a spacious green environment of 25 to 35 years ago into a crowded, concrete one. Most Canadians will wonder what expensive high-rise condos are doing on a university campus. In fact, they would be shocked to hear that a significant part of the land given to UBC in 1908 has been converted to high-end housing."

It was spoken in the context of how chinese immigrants are the reason that UBC is all "crowded and concrete", and immigration are bad.

But they fail to acknowledge the fact that UBC is the one who are actively promoting their real estate development and are making a killing by selling over priced condos.

"We also advocate a significant reduction to Canada’s Temporary Foreign Worker program which currently allows 250,000+ non-Canadians to work in Canada every year. In this and other recessions (that is, times of high unemployment), it makes no sense for a country to be importing large numbers of immigrants as well as large numbers of Temporary Foreign Workers."

Too bad that Chinese can do better math than Canadians!!

When I was in the UK - I was shocked to hear that the British National Party (think ultra right wing, racist, anti-immigration) actually had some supporters who were minorities who had recently immigrated into the country. Apparently, now that they're in the country themselves, they'd rather not keep allowing more in. Funny to think - that a lot of Revscene members who are Chinese - might be the first to complain about some of the FOB immigrants in Vancouver. I complain sometimes... But I'd never go as far as to say they have no right coming here. If the immigration laws hadn't opened up the borders more than 30 years ago, I wouldn't be here.
