looking for tips on simple video editing software
hey guys im looking for a free and downloadable video editing software.
i have a bunch of car vids that i wanna compile into 1 vid, i looked around google but theres just too many results so i would like to hear some input on what u guys like to use.
i prefer to use a simple and user friendly program over something that has too many options that i dont really need as long as it supports simple transitions, text, and supports the following formats - mpg, avi, mp4, hd, flv
the variety of videos is a mix of the above formats ,the quality is either normal or hd so it would be nice if the compiler wont downgrade the quality of the final video compilation.
thx in advance :)

Based on your writing ability I would recommend iMovie. It's very simple to use.

Or if you're using Windows... Windows Movie Maker, which has been included ever since XP/SP2.

imovie only works with a mac. so if you don't have one your sol.
for windows a really easy program is windows movie maker.
if you have windows 7 it does NOT come with it. I'm not sure about vista.
windows movie maker is really easy to use i use it all the time for simple editing etc.

Vegas isn't free ^
vegas is probably the second best PRO video editing software just behind adobe primere/after effects.

And Avid. And Final Cut Pro. ;)
You can download free trials of Vegas if you don't need the program for more than a couple weeks. Otherwise, you're going to have to shell out 30-40 for a basic editing program at a store if you need to use all those different formats.
That said, you can find media converters online and change 'em all into a single format before trying Windows Movie.

I've worked on Pro Avid in Miami for years; amazing software.
I would not recommend it to editing-noob.

Avid is a no-go for noobs and even most amateurs. I've been using it for 12 years and I'm still finding new things to do with it... :lol
i need to brighten up a portion of a video my friend took ... which software does this the best?

iMovie is incredibly easy to use and actually has a lot of options. It's much better than Windows Movie Maker as a basic video editing program.
Adobe Premier Elements maybe?

Vegas is good, for the most part its pretty easy to use. I'm not someone who's amazing at video editing, but after checking out some features and playing around with the settings and stuff, it's really not too tough to get the hang of. I think youtube has a lot of tutorials on how to achieve certain effects/visuals.
