Curious too, what me and my friend saw was, someone was running down the escalator fast from third floor to second, last couple steps he trips and falls down the rest, obviously attracting everyones attention. He got up and continued to run out the mall.

02-03-2011, 10:30 AM
Well what I saw was when I got up the escalator to the food court, there was already one kid bleeding with a pretty large cut underneath his eye. Blood was on the floor and there was one security guard there.
Buddies and I stand to see what's going on and these two other guys come in, talk some shit to the guy bleeding, and try to get at him but the security guard was getting inbetween them. Then they pick up the plastic chairs and try to swing at each other and basically start throwing at each other lol. One of the guys get hit and has a huge cut on his nose. Of course he tries to act even tougher and takes off his shirt for everyone to see his tatties. And then him and his buddy take off towards the washrooms.
Don't know what happened after that lol. Funny to watch and good thing no innocent bystanders got hurt cuz a shitload of ppl were around.

Happy Chinese New Year! -love those red envelopes of money for singles.
The interesting part of CNY is the horoscope for people based on year of birth according to the Chinese Zodiac.
Anyone born in the year of the Snake? It's Snake year.
People born in the year of the Snake are good with finances, a bit egotistical, and also thoughtful.
They can be stingy.
Any baller Snakes on RS?

Yes it's crazy. I go to Dungguan all the time, and when I go during CNY it's really dead. When I first went in 2003 it was like a ghost town (back then the city was only 1/4 the size it is now too)

I went with the wife, was sort of quiet but I'm sure it picked up later on in the night. It's like a smaller indoor night market with less stuff. Fun enough for an evening i suppose.

Don't know if this post is too late. I went today and IMO it was a waste of money.
Nothing much to see at all (You can finish walking all the booths in 30min) and there were so few food vendors (more expensive than night market price)
It maybe okay if you are planning on watching Gary sings tonight.

I want to go to dinner at one of those chinese restaurants with tables for like 16 peeps where they have those carosels of food in the middle.
Last time I went with asians to a dinner like that, I sampled like 14 different dishes and only 1 was too nasty looking to try. Chicken feet, if I remember. Damn I love chinese food.

i think overtime different cultures develop their own supersitions of lunar new year.
ie. making sure you have left overs after a big feast...because it's homonymous with the word 'spring' in a certain dialect
also heard one where you are supposed to stay up tonight if you want your parents to live long lives :ahwow:

Noisy day in my village as usual, with constant fire crackers and people banging on drums and cymbals. Of course there is the lion dance that comes through at 7am tomorrow which will be fun.
Went to the night market at victoria park and it's just so ridiculously busy that you can't really do or see anything... But it's always like that so :fuckthatshit:

Some co-workers are putting red envelopes with individually wrapped almond cookies inside them for all staff in my office. Egg tarts are being bought for staff. It's not traditional food during CNY, but it's tasty.

Does anyone follow those CNY superstitions? A co-worker asked me if I'm gonna wash my hair on Jan 31st. I said "Hell no, all my good luck is gonna go away. I washed it this morning".
I'm not sweeping my floors at home either this Friday. Keeping the good luck at home and less housework. Gotta love these superstitions.

My mother-in-law said we can't "clean" the house for 15 days. WTF?
Some of these rules are ridiculous. But at the same time, now that I know about it, I feel bad going against it. You can't claim ignorance anymore.

Received a red pocket envelope of a chocolate wrapped as a coin at work.
Some staff organized a CNY celebration for everyone at work. We got to eat "non-traditional" CNY food like veggie spring rolls and egg tarts today lol. Definitely no seaweed and oysters at work.
All the Chinese staff pitched in seven bucks per person for the goodies.
