I personally love both shows, but which do u find funnier?
I've always loved 2.5 men, but I still can't say its better than how i met your mother tho, mainly coz of Neil Patrick Harris 8)

Oranges and apples.
I find them both funny, but their style and humor is pretty different. It really comes down to personal preference I suppose. Haha sorry, this post wasn't much help at all was it?

two and a half men is sort of funny to some degree.
it's essentially charlie sheen just living his life lol. i cant believe the guy gets paid $2M per episode for that show.
i mean if you want to legitimately kill brains cells you can sit upside down, let the blood rush to your head, sniff a couple magic markers, then while still upside down, watch two and a half men.

Personally I like HIMYM over 2.5 Men, and I'm saying this having seen my fair share of 2.5 Men. HIMYM appeals to me a bit more because it has a little more season to season context.

two and a half is less annoying, the writers for how i met try a bit too harder than 2.5

May I ask which shows do you think are funny?
I feel like HIMYM forces the jokes out more (watched 5 seasons), and 2.5 (still watch) has wittier humour, but I find Arrested Development and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia funnier than both.

well imo himym has a better and more sophisticated story line/plot than 2.5 men
2.5 men is just funny and rlly carefree in a way, ... :)
I used to hate two and a half men. Always left it on showing in the background but somehow it grew on me and I don't find it so bad anymore. Same with Big Bang Theory.
How I Met Your Mother is unfunny, overrated and is the epitome of a show made for the lowest common denominator. Someone in the other thread said that it was better than Friends at its peak... no way. Friends is iconic and 10 years from now people will still remember Friends whereas HIMYM will most likely fade away into obscurity.
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia (at least the majority of episodes) and Curb Your Enthusiasm are two shows that are way better.

The pinnacle for both shows were during the early seasons. Now it's painfully obvious that both shows are continually producing shows due to viewer demand. Reminds me of Prison Break where after 2 seasons it was scheduled to be concluded but the unexpected popularity of the show saw it extend to 4 (5?) where the overall quality of the show just fell.
Of course determining a show to be "good" or "bad" is all subjective but that's what I think of HIMYM and 2.5 men as a fan of both (especially early seasons).

2.5 men is starting to get unbearable.
How i met your mother is almost like a live action version of family guy's flashback format.
I'm just watching How I Met Your Mother - because I'm really intrigued as to who the Mother is going to be.
There still are some good episodes - but the frequency of them is not as high as the earlier seasons.

Modern Family -> HIMYM -> Big Bang Theory -> The Office (American) -> 2.5 Men
i've watched every episode of all 5 shows lol ... they're all pretty funny in my opinion ~ but if i had to rank'em there it is
I've seen some pretty funny parts from Modern Family - but personally, I'm not a huge fan of the mockumentary style -which is why I'm not crazy about the Office either.

This season of 2.5 men is not good. It has had some moments, yet overall its been a dud. I love the show, yet it has run its course.
Jake used to make the jokes, now he's the butt of the jokes. Plus now that he's grown up it really shows how bad his acting is.
Alan should never be a focus of any episode, yet has been the focus of too many this season.
Watching Charlie swoon over Rose is dumb. It was funny for an episode or 2, yet kill it now.
---
I only started watching HIMYM this year and must say it is hilarious! yes it appeals to the lowest common denominator much of the time, yet other times it is brilliantly funny. I like how episodes and seasons can be linked with simple concepts - like slapsgiving and the dopplegangers. I also like how simple ideas can be made into hugely funny episodes - like the yips or the best burger.
To me the biggest appeal is that I can honestly imagine sitting with my friends in a bar discussing the same silly things leading to ridiculous stories or bets. Like the subway wars - we've all probably argued with our friends about which way is fastest to get somewhere - and then they go do it!

I used to consider Modern Family my favorite comedy on tv until I started watching Parks and Recreation. It's great! Amy Poehler's character reminds me of a female Michael Scott sometimes, except she has a brain.

I only watched 2.5 men for the chicks in it. The show should now be called 4 men since Jake eats for two. The kid no longer has the innocent charm he had when he was young. When he has those DURRRR moments he just seems mentally challenged more than anything.
Where's the spoiler tags? Last night's HIMYM ruined part of the show me for.
are you talking about the thing he said about how he and chloe didn't end up together...? and he met "the mother" at the wedding...?

who's chloe again? who's wedding did ted say he met the mother?I remember he hinted it before last season but i missed it this time around. I like how marshall is finally thinking about doing his environment-friendly career because of his dad

TheNewGirl

The referances to where he meets the mother have been going on for YEARS. And the season started with the flashforward to the wedding.
We know already several things including that she was at his mothers wedding (I believe he even danced with her but didn't know it at the time), that she is an economics student in the university he teaches at and that she has a yellow umbrella, and that she's the roommate of one of Ted's X's (we have seen her ankle). We knew right from the get go Zoe wasn't the one.
sorry, Zoe, not Chloe...
ya, I just really hope they introduce her this season. But they just keep on pushing it further and further. But Jennifer Morrison is hot - I agree. I miss her on House.

When you spout off against your producer things like this will happen lol!
“I violently hate Chaim Levine. He's a stupid, stupid little man and a p---- punk that I'd never want to be like. That's me being polite. That piece of s--- took money out of my pocket, my family's pocket, and, most importantly, my second family — my crew's pocket ... You can tell him one thing. I own him.” Sheen then challenged Lorre to a figurative duel: “If he wins, then he can leave my show.”

Sheen wants his own show, and as the highest paid actor on the top rated sitcom which everyone watches just cause of him (lets face it, the rest of the cast sucks - except Berta) - it is very likely he could get his own show.

Who would want to work with him and what company will insure him. Lindsay Lohan can't find any one to insure her.

Two and half men seem like quick cheap humor to me. I've watched HIMYM a couple of times, and it was quite funny.
But the Big Bang takes my cake. You can't beat Sheldonville. Reminds me of Frasier - almost.
