: China uses clips from TOP GUN - pretends it's real.

The newly unveiled J-20 stealth fighter has sparked fears that China is closing the technological gap with the United States. New footage, however, suggests they are firmly stuck in the 1980s.

China Central Television (CCTV) recently aired footage of a J-10 fighter (a predecessor to the J-20) allegedly destroying another aircraft during a training flight. But many viewers noticed something fishy — the images seemed eerily familiar.

Closer inspection revealed an uncanny similarity to a scene from the film "Top Gun," the 1986 Tom Cruise blockbuster.

99% of their population won't recognize it. And it's not like the rest can spread the information on twitter or facebook or blogs...

Funny how it was the Chinese netizens that were quick to spot this. Also it was posted all over their forums and websites such as tudou.com. Albiet it has since been taken down.

And I'm posting this from mainland. I'll make sure to watch out for the red army though.

What's there to debate? I was just making a point of how they can do shit like this because it doesn't matter. We notice goofy things like using 80's movie footage in propaganda, but it goes far, far deeper than that. I took this opportunity to point out why and how they are controlling the media and the people at every single level possible. There's nothing to debate with.. If you don't like the post, just ignore it and TROLOLOLOL away at the youtube clip and go about your day.

your point was that 99% of the people won't recognize it since they won't have access to the information when in fact they do have access to it. It is still all over their forums, just not the big news sites. Similar to how us news sites won't publish some articles, although it is all over the Internet. If you do a simple search via google or on baidu, the image is there. Also it has been posted many times in blogs from Chinese citizens. I was just looking at a few today while in china.
