hi does anyone know if FIDO charges extra for tethering or not with their 6gb data plan?

also

does anyone know if you can still tether if the data plan is set to BLACKBERRY and not the IPHONE data plan?

(seeing as how iphone data works only with iphones only
and blackberry data works for both iphone+blackberry)

Any data plan over 1gb should include tethering. I no longer have an iphone so I can't confirm for sure.

Yup I am using a bb 6gb data plan with my iphone 4, it's been tethering fine. They will try to pull the BS that it might not work though, but yeah tethering and bb option is no charge so why not. In fact I am tethering right now as we speak cause SFU internet is acting up on me

data plan over 1gb includes tethering

smartphone data plan works for all phones but does not provide access to BIS

bb data plan works with all phones and DOES provide access to BIS

so if i'm on a bb 6gb plan i can freely swap it into an iphone and use it for data(+tether)?

i thought i'd have to call in and tell them to switch it over to an 'iphone' plan

^nope, only the other way around. You can't use BIS on a normal plan, that's why I'd suggest going with the bb plan since they don't charge extra neways

FYI you can tether with your iPhone OR blackberry by downloading this program called PDAnet
