The problem is, no one cares, especially state side. You get the attitude that it wouldn't have happened if he wasn't doing anything wrong.
It also doesn't help that he's black.
The fact that the mayor makes a big statement at the end that it was wrong to release the video is disgusting. How much money did they spend trying to suppress it?
We need, in both Can and US, to have an informed population acting as an important figure in the, well US check and balance system.
In Canada, we need to have a check and balance system, but thats something else for another day.
Someone commeted above that its changed since 9/11. It's true. The easiest system for public safety is a police state. The easiest way to govern is a dictatorship. We choose neither. We choose a system that doesn't allow those techniques.
And my god, we need to get back to it.

Black people and most minorities are disenfranchised in the United States.
Call me a conspiracy theorist but there has been a plan to keep them in the lower class or even poverty starting from the 50's by not letting them have loans to buy a house like their Caucasian counter parts and even polluting their community with drugs to make them destitute.
How inhuman of people to accept a starving thief to get kicked in head without a judge or jury, with the chance of killing or making the kid in the video retarded due to brain trauma.

Just last year a Seattle cop punched a black teenager in the face, something that I dont think would of happened if the girl was white.
