i was having a smoke outside the shopper's on no.5/cambie.

faraway, i saw an elderly asian in white shirt walking on the crosswalk
a black civic drove in fast speed, almost crashed into the guy, after few seconds of WTF, the black civic drove away quickly.

from my vintage point (exit door of shopper's drug mart), i saw the old man trying to track down the black civic.

amusingly, the black civic parked in the mall, the civic driver was some asian kid (couldn't tell which ethnicity) came out and walk to the door.

the elderly asian dude, drove his car by the dude and obviously took the chance to bitch at him.

old man: "you almost ran over me"
young dude: "no i did not" (acting nothing has happened)
old man: "you almost ran over me at the crosswalk"
young dude: "well you should look where you go on the cross walk!"
young dude flashed middle finger at the old guy, ignored the guy and walk into the store.

honestly dude, i dunno if you are reading this, but seriously, are you ok?

i suggest you should get an eye doctor if you can't see a white-coloured shirt guy walking on the parking lot.

the reason why i wanna type this here, is i wanna remind everyone to drive carefully. if you do something wrong, it doesn't hurt to say sorry. this kid, acting all tough, gangsta wannabe, doesn't feel shame at all. you don't even realize you almost killed the guy and you flash a middle finger? you mad?

Drivers nowadays don't know how to slow down at crosswalks and see if there is anyone about to walk. Especially crosswalks right at the exits of highways/bigger streets. They probably don't even know that pedestrians have the right of way on a crosswalk.

However, you can report it to ICBC. Not exactly what they do with the information but you can also call the non-emergency line to report the driver as well, no?

the only benefit reporting them will do is they'll put a note on their DL about the incident. now, when a cop pulls that person over for a future infraction, he'll view that note and to HIS discretion, the offending driver wouldn't be given a benefit of a doubt.

bottom line: reporting people just screws over their chances of getting warnings
