So I finally gave in and got myself a Nex 5, I'm a big Nikon fan so I got a few lenses that I want to use. Did some google search and looked on bh and can't find any good answers.

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=nex+nikon&N=0&InitialSearch=yes

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/737925-REG/Novoflex_NEX_NIK_Adapter_for_Nikon_Lens.html
thats what I was looking at.

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/747447-REG/Bower_ABNEXN_ABNEXN_Adapter_for_Nikon.html
and this

but why is one 3 times the price of the other?

and for the lenses that doesn't have an aperture control how would that work?

TIA

looks like the Bower has no ability to transfer functions from the lens to camera and vice versa, so it's just a tube. the Novoflex looks like it has the abilty to do that though, so there's electronics involved. just a guess from what see from what they can and can't do.

^ the novoflex in the item description says... Such an adapter does not transfer functions from the camera to the lens, such as auto focus, but automatic exposure metering (stop-down metering/aperture priority) is possible. The lens will focus to infinity using this adapter.

Unless the distance scale is crucial to you, just buy the eBay ones. I have MD, EOS, FD, M42, OM, and Hexanon converters and they all work fine. If you need one that allows "aperture control", theres an adapter offered by Kipon that has built in blades.

Info and test here: http://translate.google.com/translate?js=n&prev=_t&hl=it&ie=UTF-8&layout=2&eotf=1&sl=auto&tl=en&u=http://dc.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/review/dressup/20110203_424426.html

Im not sure of the built in blade ones support Nikon yet, but they have it for Canon EOS.

The aperture blade one is only made for the canon eos to whatever adapters. It has a built in aperture blade because there's no manual aperture adjustments on Canon EF/EF-S lenses. Nikon F/G to nex adapters will not have them.

The reason why the Novoflex are more expensive is that they're made with more precision so there's less play when you're using the manual focus ring. It's also made in germany so that's really the only reason why you're paying more.

If you're planning to use lenses that doesn't have an aperture control (they're called G lenses btw) then you'll have to buy the Nikon G adapter.

Hope that clears things up for you!

You need to mount the NEX on the Sony 70-400mm G Lens. That thing is a beast.
