Just trying to gauge how much people in Vancouver and the lower mainland tend to spend on eating out per month as well as groceries, vs other Canadian cities.
Would be useful too if you noted what stores you shopped at to compare pricing as well. :woot2:

Groceries - around 300-400 for me and my wife
Eating out - Probably about the same
I get most of my stuff from Superstore or Save on. i go to palces like safeway or pricesmart for their specials. Sometimes I will get my produce from somewhere like Donalds.

I buy my produce and seafood from T&T (in the summer I use the Farmer's Market very heavily too), my organics and gluten free products from Planet Organics, Superstore & Roots, my Meat from a butcher shop and my Dairy comes from either Costco or Coopers.
I spend probably $100/week for the kiddo and I and our pets (who eat fresh veggies) on groceries and probably $50/week on lunches/coffee/dinner out.

$50-100 per week for myself and sometimes the gf eats my food. I eat lots, too.
How do I do it? Costco for most bulk items like bread, milk, eggs. Cioffi's (local butcher shop) for meats and Red Apple (local produce shop) for vegetables and fruits.
If you have any local butchers or produce places near by seriously check them out, don't go to the supermarket for meat/veg if you want to save some $$$ and get fresher higher quality ingredients.
Freezers are your friends. I freeze bread, veg, and meat all the time and just defrost it the day of and it's good to go.
I have also saved extra money by making my own coffee with our new K-cup machine. Very convenient and fast and 50cents/K-cup sure beats going to Starbucks all the time.

100-150 A WEEK FOR FOOD
After reading all those replies I'm a little embarassed, lol
Eating out, about 400 a month.
Groceries, about 400 a month as well.
Groceries I usually go to Superstore for a one stop shop for big grocery hauls.
Safeway, Buy Low, Price Smart, etc I usually go to if I only have to grab a few things.

^ I feel the same way, I went to the grocery store for more than a couple for the first time recently...
But previous to that, for the last 2 years I'm usually about 500-600 a month eating out. Mostly fast food like subway, mcdonalds.

about 350 on groceries per month and same for dining out.... (this is for my wife and i)
Interesting topic. I was surprised by the replies above.
There is two version of my expenditure for food (girl and I).
Before Budget
50% dine in $500 and 50% dine out $1500
After Budget ( Restricting diet last year)
75% dine in $400 and 25% dine out $600
Anything under $800 was getting hard to live on.
Even though we shop at costco and also tnt, safeway.
