They were an awesome place to visit, maybe 10-15 years ago. God I'm getting old. . .

Any idea if they will open a new location? What happened to the 2 managers there, Philleas and Manuel (they were SOO much nicer than that guy at the Burrard location)?

I didn't ask about Manuel, but Philleas is at the Burrard location. No word on if they are going to open a new location.

To clarify, although i didn't know about the lease, the company itself is sold to a new owner and the granville location is closed permanently. no word on a new location though doubtful. philleas or however you spell his name is at burrard, but is a lazy mother fucker.

But Shabusen was the best place to go for ayce, aswell as Korean BBQ. Shame it closed

I used to love burning shit in the grill AFTER we were all full LOL. We just burned all the extras we had. Good times..pretty sure other people have done that.

Damn, still couldnt believe when you guys told me its closed.
So sad...still one of my fav. place for korean bbq/sushi...good atmosphere and service was fair. Always ordered a bottle of Sapporo or rum/coke with my food.

Told my GF yesterday and she couldnt believe it either...I told her to call the phone number and it said THE NUMBER YOU HAVE REACHED IS NOT IN SERVICE. :cry:

i liked the shabusen downtown on burrard cuz it had jap chae on the menu =P

nowadays, i dont eat as much as i did when i was younger, those all you can eat's are winning =/

they are closed because lease was up, and the rent was raised to close to 50k, owner did not want to pay that crap. plus it is now sold to new owners, the old boss retiring. New owners are mainly workers in burrard(managers+chefs of burrard) granville gone forever, and all staff were laid off. Granville had to be one of the nicer restaurants in that area and Burrard location's menu was plain jane, with horrible sanitation. they got several warnings from the food safety people already, and plus it had lots of rats at one point! Head chef always wore flipflops to during work, and 5 second rule applies. fat guy philias is now in burrard, manuel quit. And those who love the chicken karage... you might be tasting little bit of nose leftovers because its a fact ive seen the fat chef that guy cook and pick his nose
