Websites won't load unless I use a proxy
I have a weird issue here where some websites aren't loading properly at home.
i.e. www.greenpois0n.com (http://www.greenpois0n.com)
I tried loading it on my computer and it wouldn't work so I tried my brother's laptop and got the same issue. We end up with a "server not found" error but the sites load up perfectly fine if I use my phone's wireless data to access it or an online proxy (i.e. http://zend2.com/)
I went into my Telus V1000H Actiontec router settings but I don't have that site on the blocked list.
Has anybody encountered this before? Any help? :(
[edit] I also used spybot & ad-aware to remove spyware
Anybody?
I can't get into my SABnzbd without figuring out how to fix this :(

check your hosts file maybe? Are you connecting from home or work? Seems to be blocked before it even hits your computer's connection
Checked my hosts file and all that's filled in is the following
127.0.0.1 localhost
127.0.0.1 activate.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 newsleecher.com
127.0.0.1 www.newsleecher.com

Can you ping yourself? Try ping 127.0.0.1

Ok.
I just tried to tracert greenpois0n.com
It doesn't work. I'm on Telus. Maybe they've blocked them out? HTTP doesn't work neither.

:failed:
does that mean they're censoring the site from us? :speechless:

Yup.
Is there anything we can do to get these sites opened on our ends?

how the hell can they block sites like that? There has to be a better explanation
Can you connect to the cache subdomain? Try downloading the file: http://cache.greenpois0n.com/dl/gp_win_rc6.1.zip

Server not found
Firefox can't find the server at cache.greenpois0n.com.

If you're getting "Unable to resolve target system name", that should mean it's a DNS problem, not necessarily you're being blocked from accessing the site.
Do the following and paste me the output:
nslookup
> greenpois0n.com
> server 8.8.8.8
> greenpois0n.com
If that works, manually change your DNS servers in your network configuration to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 (Google's DNS servers).
If that doesn't work, paste the output here.

Okay, yeah... so choose "Use the following DNS server addresses" and put in 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.
Done.
I think it's DNS thing. I'm on Telus with Google's DNS, and I have no problem connecting.
It's lightning fast for that matter.

So everything good? You can browse to www.greenpois0n.com now?
greenpois0n.com works but now I can't load up SABnzbd LOL
http://localhost:8080/sabnzbd/
same issue and hosts file is still the same as post above
This issue is weird because I was using SABnzbd for the past 2 weeks and then suddenly it just stopped giving me access to it

I'm sure they could block it completely if they wanted to... but not likely they'll go to such extremes for censorship... yet.
Looks like maybe Telus set up their DNS servers to do a manual override for greenpois0n.com so that it doesn't resolve properly... so it is censorship, but obviously not a complete one.
I mean, this is similar to what the US Government did with all those domains they seized... all they did was change where the domain name points to. If you knew the IP of the original site, you would still be able to access it directly.
No disrespect, but I'm actually surprised nobody else here instantly knew it was a DNS problem. :fuckyea:

Paste me output from following command:
netstat -na | findstr LISTENING
Is there an entry for 0.0.0.0:8080?
If not, then SABnzbd is not running or working properly.

Can you check to see if SABnzbd is actually running?
I don't think it is.
That's the problem...I can't even connect to it
Unable to connect
Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at localhost:8080.

No, no...
There is a web server that needs to be running on your machine in order for you to connect to localhost:8080
Right now, that web server is not running.
Can you go to Services (Right click My Computer -> Manage -> Services and Applications -> Services) and see if there's an entry for SABnzbd, and if there is, whether it's Started or not? If it's not Started, then Start it.
If you can't find any such service, can you go to Start Menu -> Programs and see if there's any shortcut for SABnzbd that you can run?
