I am trying to win a free trip to the US via a travel site in HK. To enter, I need to answer where this photo was taken... Most people are guessing Yellowstone park, but I don't think that is correct.

It's in the western US.. if you get it right, you get a prize! :fullofwin:

The colour doesn't really look right for grand canyon, but I'll look at some more pics of it later

Wonder if it's a golf course...

And remember, they specified " it’s a famous national park in the western US"

The whiteish rocky outcropping/mountain backdrop reminds me more of Yosemite than the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Canyonlands, etc.

Reddish mountains and sand makes me rule out Yosemite or Yellowstone, looks more desert like maybe rio grande, mojave, or grand canyon ear the colorado river.

some people have been guessing Big Bend too, because of the yellow shrubs...

The background really reminds me of Joshua Tree.. but the golden and green are throwing me off big time...

I've been to almost every single National Park in the Western USA, but your pic doesn't ring a bell except J-Tree.

The fact that it is supposed to be "famous" really only leaves Yellowstone and Grand Canyon, IMO

Thought I would just throw it out there, but it looks similar to Yellow mounds, Badlands National Park. It fits most of the colour scheme of the picture, but only thing is that it's in South Dakota which is in the Midwestern region.

The color of the rock is not the same of anywhere in the Grand Canyon,

and DEFINITELY not yellowstone.

Something like this?

hmm too rocky to be yosemite I think

there's water in there so some of what you see could be a reflection

and what looks like pink/red is also seen in what might be the rocks (at the top of the image) so sunlight is in play

could almost be somewhere in this panorama taken in different conditions/angles etc

Some of the rocky areas in Death Valley National Park are grey in colour and have yellow, sun bleached underbrush

At first glance it looks like a Hole from Tiger Woods Golf... Can't remember what course exactly but they are based on real locations so if I was to guess that is what I would pick.

Berz out.

The further back from the picture you stand the more it comes into focus.

Looks like a gulf course to me.

Unfortunately I don't recognize where it's taken...

Skinny I'm pretty sure it's from the Badlands Golf course located in Las Vegas.

Berz out.

Turns out it was Yellowstone! Winner had 74 likes.. maybe I could have made it with the help of RS :(

I didn't want to waste effort of asking people to help out without knowing if the answer was 100% correct

Oh well maybe next time.
