GTX 260 Power Supply Requirements?
Hey guys,
I'm looking through a lot of different posts/websites but can't seem to find a concrete answer. I hear/read that the GTX 260 video card requires a 500w PSU or higher, now after I get over the 500W point, what else am I looking for? I think it requires 36 Amps on the +12v rail as well. Not sure what else.
Anyone have any recommendations on PSU that I get that will work with the GTX 260?
Thanks!
Also, anyone know if the video card will work on a P5KPL-VM motherboard with a core duo CPU (E5200) @ 2.50 GHz. Running Windows 7 32 bit.

Individually, 260 should take around 250 Watts at load. What's your computer specs? And particularly which GTX 260?
And yes the video card will work with that setup.

I am using a GTX460 with 500w OCZ PSU (Phenom X4 955)
The draw never goes over 320w when I test it with a power meter

EVGA GeForce GTX 260 896MB DDR3 and will come back with specs. And yes, I'm looking only to go solo and not doing any SLI or crossfire or combining multiple vid cards.
Only looking to get this in and working on comp to play SCII in high setting.

Any affordable/good priced PSUs you have to suggest?

Try for a psu that's at least bronze+. Also look for
one that's at around 70-80% load when your pc is maxxed.
That is when the power supply is most efficient. Also look
for a modular one.

Here's a couple of good ones. I love Antec PSUs, but PCP&C even more.
http://ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=30037&vpn=EA650&manufacture=Antec&promoid=1280 - at 64.99, great deal without having OCZ's MIR hassles.
http://ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=53331&vpn=OCZ750FTY&manufacture=OCZ%20Technology&promoid=1280 59.99 after MIR, if you want to do it. This will be more than enough to keep you satisfied for future system upgrades.
http://ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=55788&vpn=CMPSU-500CX&manufacture=Corsair&promoid=1280 cheapest out of the bunch, but no room for future moves.
http://ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=55514&vpn=PPCMK2S650&manufacture=PC%20Power%20%26%20Cooling&promoid=1280 Yummy - 54A 12v rail, so even super-power hungry cards (think ATI's x2 cards) will be fine. Also, PCP&C make good stuff even though OCZ's bought them out. Not the cheapest, but also very quiet.
http://ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=35456&vpn=OCZ700MXSP&manufacture=OCZ%20Technology&promoid=1280 good compromise between power and budget. MIR deal though.

Have a Pentium Dual Core CPU E5200 @ 2.50 GHz.
I suspect there will be bottlenecking due to CPU, right?
Running windows 7 at 32 bits.

I'd recommend the OCZ FATAL1TY as well but up to you if you wanna go with the rebate. Never had any problems with the NCIX MIRs (OCZ, Corsair, Mushkin, EVGA, XFX, etc).
Depending on your resolution, CPU might not bottleneck the GPU. But you also have an option of OCing your CPU with your new PSU.

May just be going with the Seasonic M12II 520W 80+ BRONZE Modular Power Supply.
It should fit all my needs, right?

Yes that would be more than enough for a single 260.
