I think everyone knows the brand but I doubt anyone really gives a crap about the owner. Not everyone associates a man/face to the brand. Kind of like how everyone knows AMG but I doubt many people can name who the head of the AMG division is off the top of their heads.

Well it's kinda obvious that Richard Hamann is the owner of Hamann. Kind of different when AMG isn't a dude's name.

I guess the point is that it's similar to how even though a lot of us knew gemballa or hamann, I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of us didn't know who Uwe or Richard was prior to the news. When you read it it definitely sounds a lot like richard hammond which for us IS a household name so I can see why we'd jump to conclusions instinctually (EDIT: also forgot to mention how there are complete fobs on this forum who would make similar typos)
