pho tau bay. sushi place across from gilford across from timmy/papa john's/taco del mar. I think it's beside pearl fever? korean bbq place on 104 and king george on the corner is pretty good. there's a small little chinese place near surrey central. can't remember what it was called though. all i remember was the "parking" was atrocious.

Guildford Sushi? That place is ok, you are getting more quantity than quality of that is your thing.
There isn't a ton of really good food in Surrey aside from the chain restaurants, but some places that come to mind right away are:
- The Vault (Cloverdale)
- Galini (awesome Greek food, on Fraser Hwy on the border of Surrey and Langley)
- Tobiko Sushi (160 Street and Fraser Hwy)
- Hanako Sushi (152 street near Guildford Mall)
- Mahek (indian food on Scott Road)
- Sabai Thai (150 street across from Guildford Mall)
- Pho Tam (you already mentioned)
- Steveston Pizza (haven't tried this location in South Surrey, but the Richmond location is awesome so I would hope the quality has transferred over to their second location)

Is that Top King's right next to that Filipino place and where the Hockey Shop is? I like going there, cheaper than T&T and tastes about the same.
Ho Do has really cheap lunch specials, always tastes good.

I've lived in surrey since 94 and still cross the bridge when I'm looking for good food. All the places mentioned I've tried but it's nothing special. If you love Indian food this is the place to be. Luckily I like Indian food.

Red Rose restaurant on King George near 68 ave is very good. If you want subs or wraps try out Sub Garden on 72nd ave near 134 street next to the Robin Hood pub. Definitely the place to go for a sub or wrap. During lunch, the line goes out the door sometimes.

I've heard about Mahek, how is it?
Galini is good. Sabai Thai, that's one of the places I want to try, and everyone knows about pho tam by now. I got to try Tobiko, how is it?
For me, here are my favourites:
Tokachi - Here's my little secret place - I love this place. I go here quite often, maybe 2-3 times a month and spend around $50 each time, just for take out. Quality is top notch. Try out their spicy salmom sashimi. Their spicy sauce is incredible on this, it's home-made and it's all marinated, very unique. One of the best sushi joints in the lower mainland here, and not a lot of people know, probably cause it's in the ghetto. And it's authentic Japanese, plus they wear their kimonos. Corner of 108th and King George, beside the liquor store.
Donair Affair - you want donairs/pitas stuff with meat? This is the place. For about 5-6 (now they have specials, depending on what day you order). Get a regular size, because the extra large doesn't look much different. Best bang for your buck here. 156? and 108th - across from Shell, in the strip mall with subway and mac. I always order regular lamb with everything. Superb.
Tasty Sweets - they're moving to somewhere on Scott Road, I think maybe 80th. Best Indian food hands down I've ever tasted. Everything they make here is the best, coming down their Chatt to their Keema Curry. Tastes like heaven.
Hakka Masti - there's a couple of chains of Asian/Indian fusion in
Surrey, most noticeable Green Chlli Garden? forgot what's it called but the one on the corner of 96th and 128th. Sucks, forget it. The strip mall, just north of 88th - west side of Scott Road. Best fusion restaurant, everything is so damn tasteful in here. Even their sweet vineger chilli sauce is amazing. I order the chicken chow mein and Kofta's quite often.
Dosa Grill - across from Hakka Masti I think... or pretty close, it's on the east side of Scott Road, near 88th. If you like South Indian, this is pretty damn good here. I love their spring dosa's, and it comes with a couple sauces and excellent traditional south indian soup.
-- wheres' this 5 guys burger? and ho do?
top kings sucks. well, it's okay depending on how hungry you are. cheap deals that are closest to me. i do like ken's kitchen in van though, give you way more for about the same price.

there is a place called mehfil on scott road,
its all you can eat indian food for like 11 bucks,
it is phenominal too, good quality, awsome taste, includes desert.
I wouldnt recommend it if it wasnt damn good, i go there all the time
2 more well known places for cheap eats not mentioned:
guildford station pub
fresgos

I can vouch for a number of these restaurants.
Station Pub, Pho Tau Bay (and consequently Donair Affair which is right next door), Mehfil, Hanako, Pho Tam are all solid solid eats.
Not sure I'd put Ho Do on my list of good eats, but to each his own.

Mahek is pretty good. I think it was better before, but it is still solid Indian food, never had a bad meal there.
Tobiko is solid sushi for a small neighborhood joint. I find the quality of the ingredients and the preparation above average compared to most sushi places in Surrey. They also have some izakaya style dishes that separate it from the competition.
Forgot about Donair Affair and Station Pub, both are excellent and cheap!
And 5 Guys is in South Surrey.

although i will agree with the stoner part, its a pretty chill place to mow late night or a hung over breaky lol

I need the address for 5 guys, I got to try it out one day.

In my high school days, it was either Subway, Donair Affair or Pho for most of my buddies. Good/cheap eats in that 108/148 area.

If you want a higher scale place: Old Surrey Restaurant. Never had a bad meal or service there.
As for Mahek, I cannot say enough good things about it.
Guildford Station Pub, as mentioned already, is good eats.
On Yuen, located in the strip mall of Save On Foods (Fraser Hwy and 152 st) is good Chinese food. Never a bad meal there, and always good service.
Tokachi for sushi. Located at King George and 108 Ave (Same parking lot as the Shell Station and Liquer Store)
Also, I think it's Ronny's now, no longer Joe and Floe's. It's on King George, around 68th I want to say? Chinese folks that run the place, but damn they can make some mean white man food. Borsht is fucking great there.

For Chinese On Yeun next to the blockbuster on fraser hwy and 15nd is good as well Dragon Chop Suey on fraser hwy & 160th is awesome. There's also a great new sushi grill place next to the IGA in Fleetwood. The sushi is great and they actually make the Unagi over a open flame.
as well like everyone said Guildford station is the best pub around, wings are $5.95a lb normal. as well five guys in south Surrey by the super walmart makes the best burgers in BC hands down.
You have so many chocies to pick just find out on your own thats what keeps things exciting.

T&T in Surrey is different from other stores. This one has a food court with like 6 places in it, and I like the Japanese place there. There's restaurants for bubble tea (Little Tea House), Thai, Korean, Chinese, and a Viet sub place.

Donairs - Best donair next to IGA on fraser 160th i consider it way better than donair affari
Tokachi sushi kg and 108 is by far the best in surrey
Guildford station has awesome dirt cheap food
Central City pub has good food too and tons of specials
Mahek is prolly the best indian food
b'witched near 152 and #10 apparently has awesome sandwhiches and its right by my house although i havent tried it yet

sandwhich nazi is different although that should be added to the list
La Charcuterie AKA sandwhich Nazi - Roughly one pound of whatever coldcuts and cheese he feels like giving you for $6-7 depending on how much he feels like charging you. All accompanied by filthy humour, there is a sign on the door warning you. In port kells near about 190 and 96th ave in a complex on the south side. Here is a picture of a sandwhich i ate once, im a pretty big eater and i could only manage half.

So I ended up going to b'witched on 152 and #10 (southeast corner, in the big ridge complex) and they had a damn good sandwhich, spicy Cubano, and she ended up giving me a free couscous, a bag of muffins, and a large homemade granola bar. I'd say its worth trying out.

Hanako for sushi
Pho Vinh for pho and other viet dishes (comparable to pho tam and pho tau bay) also, the owner of Pho Vinh is the original owner of Kim Hoang 10+ years ago before being sold.
Not sure the name of the restaurant but in the same plaza as Pho Vinh, there's a korean restaurant. Pretty good food there too
