noob question but im hoping someone on here can professionally help me(or show me where to) paint this all black (without screwing any of the buttons or controllers up of course)

can't you just take it apart? shouldn't be too complicated. sand the plastic to roughen it up then spray. wait. spray again. wait. clear if needed. reassemble.

one thing though...

i dunno if its cuz i didnt clear coat it, but i realize that something that you grab all the time.. the paint comes off after awhile... maybe sweat > paint ?? LOL.. i am noob too.. but jsut sayin.. it might turn back to greyish white after a few uses..

Don't even take it apart. Just tape off the areas you don't want paint to hit then like everyone else said sand paint etc.

He did some excellent work painting headlights on G35's and other cars.

get painting tape and cut it to cover what you dont want painted. then sand everything down very good and then spray 1 - 3 layers with 2-4 hours dry time between each layer. clear cloat optional.

-Lightly sand with 400 grit
-Wash/clean & dry
-Spray 5-7 coats of Krylon Fusion for Plastics.
-Wait 7 days
-Done

also how does clear coat work? do i apply to it after all the other spray layers?

I'm actually really surprised you asked this question. If it was me I would get high as fuck and start painting. It might suck but so what I was high as fuck.

Tape the grip areas with whatever gripping tape you can use. Like a black hockeystick tape or something.

I know of some milsim paintballers that do this. It doesn't take away from the realism that one would be going for.

Someone with more knowledge can correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty the clear coat (2 layers?) go on just like any other layer. You just move to finer grit paper each time so you get a nice finish.

I only have experience with painting (staining) wood so I cannot comment exactly on what kind of equipment you need to get a nice finish on plastic(?) but the other tool you need is pretty much painter's tape.

Why? PlastiDip is like the stuff the handles on your tools is made of, and comes in a spray can. Thus it is rubberized and can handle a lot of wear and tear (if you spray a few thick coats). The best part is that it does not stick like paint. Just like the handle on your tools, you can cut the rubberized plastic, peel it off, and start over. If you want it to stick, just sand the surface before applying and it'll stick like paint and be hard to get off.

Its available in a matte black that would look very much like a real rifle.
It sprays very thick, yet doesn't run. So even the worst painter should beable to handle spraying PlastiDip.

Good heads up Invader but i would recommend that this guy just vinyl wraps it, even if he uses really high quality spray made specifically for plastics it will rub off eventually.
Vinyl wrapping it piece by piece has all the benefits, easier to do and it wont fade.
And with vinyl you can go crazy with the pattern you want even digital camo like that guy said
