It is nothing more than a means of self promotion by corporations. As bad as "eco-marketing" gets, earth hour is by far the worst case of it.

For everyone else, it's a lame pat on the back to do once a year. Want to use less energy? Use less energy. All year round. One hour a year isn't going to do shit.

As far as the actual topic, if you want a 3DS you definitely need to pre-order. They fully expect to be production limited for the first year at least. It's not gonna be a flop

I am looking forward to checking it out myself, but I don't plan on buying one any time soon.

Sorry for the rant.. I despise eco marketing, and like I said, earth hour is the worst case of it there is.

my gf who is not even a gamer wants to get one just for kicks.. and she wants to use it for potential 3d movies on netflix

as for games, the DS is still very much alive with good line up of games coming out this year, id rather wait for the next iteration the following year with hopeful better battery life.. $250 is too much for a hardware that looks like it has the same graphic capabilities of a psp.. and no i wont consider getting an NGP..

also theres a slider that you can use to turn the 3d effects up or down or off completely

also the graphics were never a reason to get a ds..

why can't they bring back the gba slot :( i have a bunch of gba games that i could still play again... i think it was a dumb idea to remove the slot in the beginning.. they had it in the ds.. and dsl... why they have to take it out for dsi? it's not like they have to change anything on the console.. and it's bigger than the dsl... so i don't see why they can't fit it there :(

I'd bet that most users will be turning off 3D on every game they play after about 20 minutes at most. Thankfully they have adjustable 3D levels, some games work better at different levels too.

i picked it up and the 3d is pretty amazing without glasses for a handheld device, too bad the battery life kinda sux. went to futureshop on robson for the launch to pickup the preorder starter kit. + they were giving out a free hard case for the 3ds so wasn't too bad. the price is a bit expensive ya, but you know ppl will still fork out the money for it.. just coz it's nintendo.. kinda like apple products lol... and at least nintendo is forcing the competitor to up their products ~ so in some way i support nintendo :)

Regardless of how much it costs or if the 3D aspect is just another gimmick to another product, still tons of ppl will buy it. When the Nintendo DS came out, all my friends seriously bought one, I got tempted but never gave in. Good decision cuz no one plays it anymore LOL, saved myself $200buxs :fullofwin:

i bought it, direction pad is horrible street fighter ported over well IMO EXCEPT FOR THIS DIRECTION PAD.

This is crap, what was nintendo thinking not putting a proper 8 way directional pad in like found in a ps3 joystick.

I was doing the promo work for it before it came out. I got to play most of the games but I don't think I'm going to get one until later. The games that are out right now don't really do it for me. I'm not even that big of a fan of the 3D, gives me a headache after a couple hours. The concept is really cool but if I need to move around that means I can't play on transit which is where I do most of my handheld gaming.

I would think every retail store should have a demo. EB games, FS/BB? I was down in Premium outlet and there's a demo unit in Walmart 1 day before the official release. :fullofwin:

IMO never was a good idea playing handheld devices longer than 1 hour
i guess tone down the 3d slider.

3D slider up and down doesnt mean more or less 3D. It's the adjustment for distance/angle for your eye balls. Some people have eye balls or holding distance closer and some further away. Therefore, adjust to a comfortable position for you not to feel disoriented is the what that slider is about.

Went to best buy tonite to check it out.. turns out all the big stores have a locked up demo model, and you gotta ask one of the people there to try it out. Anyway he showed us how to use the AR cards and had some fun with it. The 3D is really cool and I'll probably get one when some better games and an R4-like device comes out for it.

My GF got one.. they hyped up the "3D" way too much. I actually really hated it because it didn't seem that 3d to me at all in any point on the 3D slider. My gf on the other hand loves it to death lol. I guess to each his own, I'd suggest trying one before buying

A small percentage of people can't see the 3D. Either that or you didn't give your eyes enough time to adjust to it.

3ds is the best handheld I have ever played. SF IV AE is addicting this handheld has a lot of potential.

If you’re one of the many Nintendo 3DS owners that are thinking about purchasing the much-awaited ‘The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time’ game when it arrives in stores in June, then it looks like you might have to get in there quick as the game is facing a limited release.

According to Anoop Gantayat over at andriasang.com, a recent post on the Sinobi.blog website has revealed that the very first shipment of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time game is going to be extremely small. In other words, if you want the new title, it’s best to pre-order it.

The allotments will be small for all retailers, no matter how big or small the retailer is. What’s more is that Nintendo will not allow retailers to place orders for the upcoming action-adventure game, which is due to release on June 16th in Japan, June 17th in the UK and June 19th in the US.

So why is Nintendo being so strict with its shipments? The Sinobi.blog writer believes that it could well be an attempt to avoid the situation that occurred with the Zelda: Spirit Tracks game on the Nintendo DS, in which large amounts of the game were found in bargain bins shortly after launch.

CL would be your best right now for buying the 3ds with games,

id just go with CL, since most of the sellers were impulse buyers, your buying almost a brand new system, the only risk your taking is no receipt and potential dead pixels, but thats rare nowadays in lcd tech

the problem with buying games early in the life of a console is you buy any game that comes out, although iv been a fan of DoA games, pretty amazing how they crammed all 4 DoA games into a small cart

Tecmo actually encourages players to play the game with the 3d off, with the 3d on, framerate drops from 60 to 30fps, although some of the 3d effects look cool

I managed to get one off of craigslist for $180(because of a tiny scratch) with receipt and everything. Everything was mint and it was obvious it wasn't played very much.

Got SSFIV and the 3D kinda strains my eyes. Going to play with it off most of the time. Can't wait for OOT.

What happens when my memory card fills up? I don't see an easy way to transfer stuff on and back off unless I missed something.

i managed to download excitebike before the eshop crashed, its pretty cool, i like the 3d remake, its subtle, but doesnt drastically change the look of the game

dont buy any of the gbc games, from the reviews, their crappy ports and the dsiware stuff has the same problems of ds games playing on 3ds, blurry txtures

the 3d e3 game trailers on eshop are pretty cool, because they are presented to simulate the real 3d effect of what the games will actually look like..

mario kart 3ds and luigi's mansion 2 looks cool in 3d..

traded ghost recon 3ds, i also picked up the nyko batt with charge cradle $24, with how long OoT is, worth upgrading the battery and play the whole thing in 3d
