That was pretty fucked up.
I can see lawsuits for sure. I would. No one was resisting arrest. And that robocop just went crazy.
He hit the guy in the leg hoping to sweep him to the floor, but that didn't happen. He didn't need to continue to beat the white chick, I don't even know why he did? And he didn't need to mase her either. And when he tripped her to the floor, that was pretty messed up too.

Overzealous police with no understanding how to handle the situation appropriately. I have no clue why he went nuts on that girl.

In most cases yes, but honestly i doubt it would've worked in this situation. Look at how rowdy they are...

Fuckem I think they deserve it for acting like retards. The devils advocate in me would like to ask the question what would be the reaction if it was a white cop beating a black male and female? Would the race card get played?

Were, past tense. They weren't doing anything when the cops showed. Guy was just standing there going "wtf mate?" and then the girl was just walking in a daze. No matter how retarded they acted towards the people in the truck (whether deserved or not) once the cops showed they were not rowdy at all.
Honestly, cop was probably pissed he had to wear those ugly ass glasses.

The guy was clearly still attacking the hood of the car, and the girl was still attacking the passenger of the vehicle, when the cops ran over.
Dumbasses got what was coming to them.
You can't just run up to a bunch of drunk idiots, with adrenaline pumping through them, and ask them politely to sit on the ground.
The cops even grabbed the guy when they first got there, and you can see him push the first cop off and he walks away from them, hence why they used force to stop him from walking away, because he wasn't listening.

So... Attacking the hood of a car constitutes a thread to a cop?
And it more looks like he shrugged the cop off and the guy wasn't even facing the cop when he got hit. It's not hard to grab, put your leg behind theres and haul them to the ground. No sense in breaking shins.
I'll agree with you that they were sill acting retarded but in no way did they show any aggression towards the pigs warranting them to get "abused" the way they did.

:failed:
There was a fight, how would the cops know that they won't act aggresively toward them? Are they going to take a chance in a situation like this?

Um the officer already tried to arrest the guy but he "assaulted" the cop when he tried to resist. Can't ask people nicely when they're drunk. If you deal with that kind of people on a daily basis you'd know that. However what went on after the initial engagement was excessive, especially to the girl.
Half you complainers wouldn't have said a thing if it was a bunch of random dudes "helping"

A lot of things happen in this incident and people jump to the conclusion of police brutality. Suddenly everyone thinks they're an expert on Police Use of Force.
This is actually one of the better videos because it shows what happened before Police arrived on scene, giving it some context. If all you saw was when the Police showed up, it would be very biased. Given with what we have, lay out the facts.
PRIOR TO POLICE ARRIVAL:
-The girl in blue and the girl in orange appear to be the aggressors by pulling the fat chick out of the car and beating her.
-The guy appears to be associated to the two female aggressors. He also clearly commits mischeif by punching the vehicle and leaving a nice dent in the fender.
AT POLICE ARRIVAL:
-It's unknown what information was received about the call to inform the Police. Likely it was as you saw a report of fighting, but the details we can only speculate.
-Police would have seen the ongoing fight and would have likely seen the male punch the vehicle as well as they jump into the screen just a second after.
-2 Police Officers attempt to arrest 3 people.
-The guy pushes off a Cop then tries to walk away, takes a wack to the legs and then he complies by getting on the ground.
-Before the guy is put in hand cuffs, the girl in orange interferes and you can see her put her hand on the officer. She takes a hit to the legs with the baton and then gets OC Sprayed.
-Officer puts the guy in cuffs and then realizes the girl is getting away. Brings her back and puts her on the ground and cuffs her.
I don't know where this happened but for the sake of argument we'll use Canadian law. Bottom line is, the guy and the girl are ARRESTABLE for what they did and they were found committing by the officers. As much force as reasonably necessary is permitted. Before people run their mouth as to whether it is justified or not, people need to know the Use of Force model governing police actions at that time of the incident. And by "that time" I mean 1970's (pre-charter) this would not be an issue as compared to todays media society.
When Police arrive at the scene, they see people fighting which means they're behaviour is combative. The combative behaviour doesn't need to be directed to Police for them to use force, so long as that behaviour is prevalent. If that Cop felt the behaviour of the subjects were combative, then he's justified to use his baton. It doesn't matter what you or I thought. It's what he thought at the time. This is why there will never be a yes or no answer to this. It's based on the officers perception and his actions need to fall within the reasonable "range" of use of force. He may be on the heavier handed side of the range but likely within the range.
Police were also outnumbered 3 to 2. I don't know how many bar fights you've seen but from experience, fights do not stop when someone says "stop" and drunk people don't listen very well. This could be a very dangerous position to be in, especially with a crowd around the incident. You don't know if the crowd is pro or anti Police.
At the end of it, the cop got compliance from the guy. The girl, not so much but still got her in hand cuffs after everything. So yes I would say good job for getting things under control in under 2 minutes.
From experience again with dealing with fights in progress my suggestion would be EVERYONE GETS ARRESTED. It doesn't matter who started it, who's finishing it. Police have a duty to intervene to prevent continuation of the offence. After everyone is arrested, things calm down, then you can sort out what happened, not before.
