CNN
March 29 2011, 6:16 pm
A Los Angeles hospital has reported that Jackie Chan has passed away. The legendary Hong Kong actor who appeared in over 100 films died last night following a heart attack. He was promoting his most recent film, 'Kung Fu Panda 2'. Doctors say his heavy schedule was causing extreme stress and putting too much pressure on his heart. Chan was scheduled to fly to Hong Kong today to begin shooting on his next film '1911'.

The actors family has not yet issued a statement in regards to the passing of the truly remarkable actor who died at the young age of 56. Fans swarmed Facebook after confirmation of his passing came through a source close to Chan. A couple of celebrities have also posted their personal tributes through face book. Will Smith; “A remarkable actor, he will be forever missed and always in our hearts. RIP Jackie. x”

Even United States President Barack Obama laid down a personal tribute to the martial artist saying: “Jackie Chan is a man who can talk through talent, he is a constant reminder of the strength of humanity. He will forever be in our hearts, a true inspiration who inspired many generations. First it's Nate Dogg then it's Jackie Chan."

MTV will be holding a special memorial for Chan on Friday.

site doesn't look legit and all the links lead to someone's blogspot account.

as a rule of thumb: when there's a link called "Ni**erwatch" in the menu, i wouldn't recommend using it as my primary news source

On the last day of British rule in Hong Kong, Detective Inspector Lee (Jackie Chan) of the Hong Kong police leads a raid at a shipping bar wharf, hoping to arrest the mysterious crime lord Juntao. He finds only Sang (Ken Leung), Juntao's right hand man, who manages to escape. However, Lee successfully recovers numerous Chinese cultural treasures stolen by Juntao, which he presents as a farewell victory to his departing superiors: Chinese Consul Solon Han (Tzi Ma) and British Commander Thomas Griffin (Tom Wilkinson).

Seeing those makes me long for the days when great movies were being made in Hong Kong... Even Jackie himself is little more than a corporate shill these days... I guess after all that abuse, he sort of deserves it.. I just wish there was someone who could take his place.

Jackie Chan is doing just fine, thank you very much.

The Hong Kong action legend is dispelling an Internet-fueled rumor that, after years thrilling audiences with amazing martial arts feats and death-defying stunts, he had succumbed to a bum ticker at the age of 56.

"Jackie Chan is alive and well," reads a note posted on Chan's Facebook page. "He did not suffer a heart attack and die, as was reported on many social networking sites and in online news reports."

MORE: Hoaxing 101—How to Fake a Celebrity Death

At least it wasn't a snowboarding accident in Switzerland as supposedly befell a number of his big-screen brethren.

The statement added that the Rush Hour star "is fine and is busy preparing for the filming his next movie."

To prove it, Chan also posted a picture on his Facebook page and official website showing him meeting with Japan's consul-general in Hong Kong to discuss the details of "Love Without Borders 3/11 Candlelight Gala." It's a hometown event he's helping organize set for April 1 featuring over 100 performers which will raise money for victims of Japan's earthquake and tsunami.

The actor is the latest celebrity to fall victim to the Web and social media's penchant for spreading false reports of a sudden demise, joining the likes of Jeff Goldblum, Owen Wilson, Aretha Franklin, Aaron Carter and Eddie Murphy.
