IYO what is the hardest auto race in the world? In terms of the driver skill involved to not turn yourself into road kill, and the stress behind the skill. Is it Formula 1, the Gt Races, Pikes Peak type stuff, WRC, D1, Nascar, Lemans, suicidal touge passes, etc. Anything that you consider difficult. Maybe even a ranking list.

Hm, Dakar vs. 24 hours of Nurburgring?
Nighttime on the Nurb is fricking dangerous.

Some parts are lighted (near grandstands/pit), otherwise it's just your headlights I think.

Hard to speak in absolutes, but I would say the 24H du Mans comes to mind first, especially for the idiots that tried to do it for 24H with a single driver (now, mercifully, disallowed).
- very high speeds
- wheel to wheel racing
- massive speed differentials between different classes of cars
- most of the circuit is not lit at night
- most of the circuit consists of public roads (therefore is not as well kept as a track)
As a single event I'd pick Le Mans.
From what I know, the Dakar rally would be somewhere on the list due to its sheer length. However, afaik there are no night stages, speeds are lower and there is essentially zero chance of wheel-to-wheel incident. In this case, it's more of long-term physical and mental grind with a much lower chance of severe injury or death.

Nope. Only the pitlane is lit up. Everything else is pitch black.
Went there 2 years ago to watch the 24hr race, it was intense!

Another vote for Isle of Man TT:
"The TT races are extremely dangerous because of the high speeds on very narrow, twisting streets, roads and lanes flanked by stone walls and even buildings."
Basically riders going full out through city roads that are closed off, if you watch the videos on youtube there aren't any barriers in some sections so clipping a wall or going off track can often be deadly since you're on a motorcycle.
