I'd like to argue that the deaths of some of the figures posted above would not have prevented the atrocities they have committed but simply been replaced by another notorious person (likely with some sort of psychological problems). I believe that if Hitler had never existed, someone else with a traumatizing childhood or with other psychological disorders (like many Germans after the loss in WW1) would have just as easily taken his role. The murder of Archduke Franz Ferdinand by the "faggot" (Gavrilo Princip) was an excuse by Austria-Hungary for them to declare war on Serbia and that Princip did not singly handedly instigate the First World War. It has to do with the unreasonable ultimatum Austria-Hungary presented to Serbia.

I personally do not think that non-existence of a particular historical figure would have altered history as somebody would have easily replaced him or her. That being said I know there are some exceptions such as Stalin (as he had connections with Lenin, etc. and had an opportunistic chance after Lenin's death to control the U.S.S.R) but based on my limited knowledge of important figures in the world I would want to see what the world would have become if Stalin or Kim-Jon Il had been murdered.
