Pretty amazing. Look how close the soldiers sit to that truck flying out of the plane.

in the first video, how do they ensure that the drop is made onto the right location? lets say drop is within a 1-2km radius - how do you pin point it so accurately, given the weather conditions?
2nd video low drop = mad skillz.

air forces have been bombing specific targets, even things as small as airvents in buildings, for the better part of the last century. im sure they are able to drop a truck in a field.

this may be dumb but i still dont get how a crate and some cardboard protects a truck when its falling at such highspeed. I understand how the tanks work with the parachutes and stuff.

the cardboard just absorbs some of the impact. For the gear strapped to the hood to not slam into the hood. And it looks like there might be some really thick pieces underneath the hummer, probably to stop the weight of the truck from bottoming it out and sending the shocks through their mounts

yah, but bombing and humvee/supply drops are totally different. most bombs are laser guided and have coordinates pre-programmed for direct hit. i dont think you can pre-program a wooden pallet.
RS is missing an in house military dude. Anyone know someone who knows someone with connections to a military dude?

The second video clearly depicts a humvee being dropped from a higher altitude. The tanks are dropped close to the ground. I have a feeling it's just because tanks weigh so god damn much, you'd need 1000 parachutes to keep that thing from hitting the ground @ 200km/h.
If a tank hits the ground @ 200km/h, I figure the tank would be more then likely destroyed.

wouldn't the transport plane be vulnerable to attack like RPG fire at that low drop altitude? I'm assuming this would not be behind enemy lines?

well in anycase im sure they arent going to drop the crate, tanks, humvee in enemy zone.. its not BF2 where the general gona drop it so he can get kills..
they gona drop it in a safe zone so the height wouldnt really matter much...

Didn't you watch The A-Team? Albeit it wasn't falling onto the ground, it was falling into a lake.

Same video as the OP but higher resolution-- plus it shows the 50 paratroopers jumping out of the same plane.
