Recaro Seat Rails?

Hi,
First of all I don't know whether to post my questions and concerns in the VAC or the technical discussions so I apologize in advance and if one of the mods/admins could move it to the appropriate sub-forum that would be greatly appreciated.
Now, I recently purchased DC5-R Recaro seats (black with red stitching for those who must know)
They come with DC5 rails so its ready to install in a RSX.. BUT! I'm installing these in my 97 Prelude.
Now my questions is how would one go about installing these? Is there any specific or recommended way? I'd like to see if I can get this done locally somehow? OR I prefer doing it myself but I've never welded before if that's needed of course.
Does anyone know if Recaro made Prelude rails for their seats and if so where could I purchase them locally to avoid shipping time if possible?
My last resort is to order custom rails from Wedge Engineering.
Thanks in advance
Cheers
Mike

not sure if this helps or not, since these are for RSX-S Seats.

get some flat stock from Home Depot and make tabs. $10 and 2 hours of labour.

Best method is to order from Wedge Engineering, ordered mine from them for my Recaro SRD.
Bolted right onto car, fir perfectly.
Just tell them what seat you have, order the rails, and if necessary order the silders as well (but you probably have them already).
Reasonable priced but makes the job easier than fabricating.
Back in 2003, I fabbed DIY rails for my other seats, it was fun to learn and DIY but at the end, I rather have some safe equipment when driving.
Good luck!
PS: Did you buy the seats of member: 02rsxtypes02? Cause I knew he had those black/red stitch DC5R recaro?

Thanks for all the info guys. I already got a hold of someone at Overseas Auto. I'm going to bring them a seat and see what they say.
No I did not get mine from 02rsxtypes02, although I should have atleast came by his place to check his out before purchasing mine. I did get mine cheaper then his and in mint condition from what I see in the photos. They are coming from a guy I know who works at a JDM import place in Montreal. We'll see.
PuYang, I have something funny to show you when I was filming my Mugen exhaust with the GoPro! hah.
pingu81, sorry but what is flat stock?
If Overseas Auto doesn't have anything ins tock then I'll find out how much they cost from Wedge Engineering, although I hear its like 3-400 dollars for two rails plus waiting and shipping time as they are all made to order.
I'll keep you guys posted and I'll post some photos as well. Currently I have S2000 seats (which are now for sale) in my car and I swapped out the seat pans with Prelude seat pans so it fits perfectly with my OEM prelude rails but I sat in a few Recaro seats at some car shows and I fell in love :) It's like the seat hugs you at all times. I love it :o

Hope Jim at Overseas can help you.
Definitely be nice to see DC5R Recaro in a prelude...show pics when done!
Off the top of my head, I paid almost $500 shipped for rails/sliders from Wedge and it bolted right up to my Recaros, in fact, when I spoke to the rep on the phone, I mentioned the style of seat and he immediately replied how many inches each hole was from each other on the bottom. Its like he had my seat in person and knew the measurements exactly.
Even the rails had a specific L bracket for the seat buckle to bolt on...some I've seen doesnt exist. But to each his own...
Good people and very knowledgable since they are a family business oriented for over 50 years!
Shipping to my house in 3 weeks.

You'll see them in my Prelude for sure! Hopefully before Honda-Tech meet but most definitely by the RS summer meet and Hats Off Honda show & shine.
I bought these seats because they are extremely comfortable but I might have to purchase that special foam thingy that bus drivers use for more lumbar support as my lower back kills me after 45 minutes of driving.
I hope Overseas Auto can help out as well. It would make it easier instead of purchasing another item and waiting for it to come in then again I'm not in that much of a rush. But the sooner these are installed the better! :p
I'll post pictures up for sure, don't you worry.

Overseas don't know much about these stuff. If u want, go for Wedge Engineering like some of the guys already said. Orrrrrrrr contact Speedware Motorsport in Redmond, WA if u like to get a sparco/recaro mount.
And of course u can also consider getting Bride rails but that will take ages to get most of the time, especially for a Prelude.

since your seats come with DC5 rails, then I bet it wouldn't take very much to modify the tabs to match your Prelude. take it to a machinist and they can make it happen for you. if you're familiar with AMT machine shop, he can mod your current rails for a fair price.

We can help you with that as well. I do tons of seat swaps and usually end up making custom rails or swap them from the factory seat to keep the aftermarket ones as low as needed.

Guys! I found a pair of BB6 Wedge Engineering brackets on another website for super cheap! I need to know if these brackets will work with my OEM Prelude rails or the DC5-R rails that already come with the seats? Anyone know?
I know this is a bit tricky without photos and all.
Thanks in advance.

Ok, Gonna use google photos to illustrate as clearly as I can...
(Hard to find exact photos of Wedge products separated.)
This is a Wedge rail:
http://www.dvsmith.net/images/ebay/wedge_bracket_e30_01.jpg
Notice the 2 tube-like pieces...ok, if partnered with Wedge sliders it'll bolt onto the tubes correctly.
http://www.dvsmith.net/images/ebay/recaro_sliders_01.jpg
See how the L piece has 3 holes...thats for height adjustment. high or low.
---
What you have to do is make sure either your OEM sliders OR DC5 sliders would fit onto the 2 tube-like pieces of the rail (see first pic again.)
If so, then all works well.
If not, then get Wedge sliders to match or custom fab.
Hope thats clear. :moderatorban:

I can't wait to receive them! Should be here Monday or Tuesday!
I got a hold of Speedware Motorsports and I was told the following...
"You would be looking at the following items -
Seat brackets for Prelude - $135.00 per seat
Recaro universal style sliders (rails) - $109.00 per seat
Seat install hardware - $20.00 per seat
So, retail total is $528.00 if you are doing two seats. I can do a package price on this for $475.00 and do free shipping to Blaine, WA"
They make everything in house and ready to ship that day. So I might do that.
But I found Wedge Engineering Prelude brackets on another site. Two brackets for the price of one shipped! I gotta find out if Wedge brackets will work with Recaro universal rails. I also need to find out if these DC5-R Recaro's come with universal rails or did they have OEM Honda DC5 rails. Now I'm just waiting to see if these DC5-R Recaro seats have what I need only then I can spend the money.
Here are the Wedge brackets...

Of course I'm going. I replied to your HT thread like 50 times lol. I gotta leave at like 5am though as I'm not risking the highway road debris. I'm gonna take the scenic route which is longer but whatever.

Both drivers and passenger are identical other then the small tab that sticks out where the wire for the seat belt clip mounts. There are three 14mm bolts on the outside and three 10mm bolts on the inside per side. I gotta find out if these universal sliders will fit.

Just spent all day trying to pry apart my OEM Prelude sliders and somehow slide them into the DC5-R. I knew it was a no go from the beginning but I wanted to get these installed and test them out on the road. It didn't turn to try since I had some time.
Looks like I need those sliders from you, Jackygor. If you still have them that is. If not.. then its off to Speedware!

Dammit! Jackygor's sliders won't work with the seats. I need that L shaped bracket that Hondaguy mentioned before. What happened to the pics in your post by the way? I don't see them anymore.
I'm waiting for Tony at Speedware Motorsports to get back to me to see if he has anything that might work if not I'm just going to purchase the whole kit that he has and call it a day. I want these properly installed already. Gonna have to sell my body and soul for all of this.
More pics!

Yes I know my S2K seats are in terrible condition. I drove all the way down to Kent, WA and waited for a dude 5 hours because he was apparently running late, wasted a whole day, spent 500USD when the exchange rate wasn't as good as it is today plus gas for there and back and took the time to do the seat pan swaps and stuff.
The photos the guy sent me were not the greatest quality either so I took a big risk driving down there and found out that they weren't in the greatest shape but I didn't want to leave empty handed.

Just google: Wedge Engineering Sliders Rails...

You are waiting for sliders? And what rails are you planning?
Maybe I can help.

Currently I am just waiting for Tony at Speedware Motorsports to reply to my email.
He has the full setup for both seats ready to go and he'll ship for free. It'll take one business day to ship.
All I need are Wedge Engineering brackets which I found on Honda-Tech and waiting for that guy to send them to me and some Recaro universal sliders. Then I should be good to install the seats into my Prelude.
If Tony from Speedware has sliders that will work with the Wedge Engineering brackets that I've found on Honda-Tech then we're in business. I'm just trying to see if I can save some money as the Wedge Engineering brackets I found are $135 shipped for both driver and passenger. So I think that's a good deal.

You need the "RO" type for the DC5R Recaros.

I got my Wedge Engineering brackets and Recaro sliders!!
Thank you Jacky for the sliders!
I'm in the middle of installing them into my Prelude. I have one compliant. Wedge brackets suck! I had to push down so freakin hard in order to get all the bolt holes aligned up. It seems like Wedge made them slightly too short or perhaps didn't consider some people have carpet in their car? But a mm or two thickness of carpet shouldn't matter.
Other then that is great. Pics up in a minute.

Drivers side Wedge Bracket was a breeze to install but the passenger was a pain. I was about to drill some larger holes but before I did I tried to align it all one last time and it finally went in perfectly. It was a really tight fit but the bracket fits without any modification.
