Happened this morning. Taxi ran a red light, hit rear 1/4 panel and flipped.
Got to love Toyota safety, curtain airbags came out, only minor scratch and bruises.

Wow. Where in HK was this? Glad you are okay.
I'm amazed by how few accidents happen here considering how aggressively everyone drives. In fact, your picture is the first accident I have seen while I am here.

Mongkok near Langham Place.
Driver needs minor surgery though, but no one was seriously harmed.
Taxi driver claimed he did not have enough sleep. =/

Is that where you live?
Could have chilled with you last week... was staying at Pop Hotel a few blocks from Langham Place.
Is that a Toyota Hi-Ace?

Glad to hear you're ok, if that was your car.
Mongkok has some tight roads in certain streets, ppl always j-walking, and cars speeding through when the stores arent open yet in early morning.
Hope you werent hurt much!

IIRC most JDM vans flip in side impact crash test, Looks like car did it's job to protect the occupants though

mmm a previa
but yeah JDM vans in general are actually quite tall with not a very firm suspension for ride comfort.

**Hit** ---> Middle east side wheelie ---> BAM, that split second feels like 10seconds ---> slided 20metres -----> didn't know how to get out ----> helpers keep screaming "aiya, dim ar, aiya" ----> Apple Daily before firetruck ---> Taxi driver cried out "I am sorry ar bla bla bla"

Taxi drivers are fucking INSANE here.. They drive like 20 hour days, napping here and there, and popping E to stay awake. One time I was taking one home from the airport after a late flight (busses were not running), and I really thought I was going to die that night. The guy just keep twitching and spazzing out, and was veering all over the road. My wife just kept talking to him about random stuff to keep him awake.
We found out later from another driver that he lost his license shortly after. GOOD!
read the thread title and i was expecting news as in making it in a car magazine or something, not this! i would have been sh*tting myself if i wound up like that.

+1..i don't get why some gov'ts in Asia don't bother reinforcing this. You can buy seat belt clips just so to circumvent the car's seatbelt reminder system. :speechless:

That's what my wife's dad does.. I can't fucking believe it. He usually only wears a seatbelt on the highway, I want to smack some sense into him before he kills himself. And he's driving around China of all places. After spending a weekend there, I think I saw at least 5 or 6 wrecked cars, including one really bad one. You can't drive in China without seeing crashed cars waiting to be towed away.
