because that's the old gt500 (as i understand it there's going to be a new one to make up for where it lacks due to the Mustang BOSS)

The Super Snake does it in 11.16@128mph
pretty sure the new cobra will be insane (that's what we're hearing neway)

The BOSS 302 is fucking amazing. The MT test car lapped Laguna Seca in 1:40.2 seconds, which is 0.6 faster than an Audi R8. There is a Laguna Seca package available for the car too, Ford claims it lowers the laptime to under 1:40. BOSS is BAWSSS

GTR and the LFA don't even compete in the same category.....the GTR is about numbers while the LFA is all about feel. Customers love the GTR because of the amazing performance numbers. The LFA is for customers that want a great driving experience with an emphasis on feel Vs all out performance #s...hence it is rwd and na.

i agree that i feel like you get 90% of the car for a 1/4 of the price.
The GTR has the power, and the track ability.
Look at the top gear test track times:
1:19.7 - Nissan GT-R
1:22.8 - Lexus LFA (wet)
yes the LFA was done on a wet track, so i'll say they are more or less very similar.
Ofcourse I have not driven both of these vehicles so its hard to get a good opinion.
What i dearly love about the LFA is that beautiful exhaust note thanks to Yamaha's sound division.

We were talking about this the other day at work. We have several people who race regularly (and by race, I don't mean track or club days - I mean race as in dropping $20K for a weekend).
We were discussing the GT-R vs the ZR1 and how they were on the track. Two guys at work have had extensive track time in a GT-R and ZR1 (along with Z06 and various Porsche GT cars).
Bottom line: they agree that no car they have ever driven can pull harder or faster out of a corner than the GT-R. The combination of AWD and the electronic distribution of torque coupled with the dual clutch transmission pretty much guarantees this. They also feel that unless you're an extremely talented driver, you won't beat the GT-R at the track.
The ZR1, on the other hand, takes a lot of skill to drive on the track. So much power through the rear wheels requires constant inputs & adjustments from the driver. If you overstep the limits you will get bit in the ass. After a few laps in the ZR1 you'll feel like you've had a workout at the gym. The GT-R could be driven fast all day without breaking a sweat.
One comment I thought intersting was that the ZR1 is the modern day Porsche Turbo. All the qualities that made the original Turbo are also present in the ZR1. Blindingly fast, extremely visceral, scary as hell at the limits. While all other manufacturers are taming their cars with electronics (GT-R being the most extreme, but even Porsche is doing this), Chevy has made real man's sports car.
So the question is which one would they take if given the choice? The ZR1. The reason being that the GT-R is smoking fast, but boring. The car does a lot of the work for you. Even though the ZR1 is much harder to drive, it's more rewarding to the driver and provides a much higher level of excitement. If you turn in a fast lap in the GT-R you're like "of course I did, what did you expect". You turn in a fast lap in the ZR1 and you feel like you've accomplished something.
People who have a soul would pick something like a ZR1. People who only look at numbers would pick a GT-R.

Acura NSX MSRP in 2005: $144,000 CAD before all tax and charges.
The price is in NSX territory back then, or nowadays R8 V8 territory.

Personally, I dont like GTR, not my cup of tea! Just comparing the only 2 super cars from 2 different manufatories from Japan for now, thats all. Until Honda or Mazda can come up with their new toys that can make more sense in price and performance, LFA to me is a dirty dream of engineering and really stupid marketing long shot hoping now they car be up there with the big Euro boys........ :failed:

its more about the actual car vs top speed
also any joe blow can buy a GT-R you can't buy a LFA....

A shop like Titan or Underground Racing needs to come out with a twin turbo kit for the LFA, similar to the Gallardo kit. Being that it's a toyota, the stock bottom end is probably good for like 1500whp. lol.
LFA's are awesome. Makes the GTR look and sound like a base model altima. The ultimate goal of every car is not to produce an arbitrary number on an arbitrary test track. The LFA is wicked for what it is.

The LFA? Sold all of the ones for Japan in 2 months after announcing the price tag. Didn't take long to sell the rest of the LFAs around the world.
BTW. The Lease you're talking about, is only for 2 years. After the 2 Years, you have the option of buying the car.
It's non-transferrable to prevent people from flipping the car for more. Like the Enzo.

Performance car cant be judge by their price. Is Bugatti Veyron 10 times the car Nissan GT-R is? Of course not. Nothing works like that. By the way if you think only about price tag, the 2011 Corvette Z06 with Carbon Performance Package is only $95,965CAD where as the 2011 Nissan GT-R is $101,830CAD. Wheres you so call bang for buck now?
I don't think the LFA is pointless just because its slower and more expensive. That's simple thinking, was the Ferrari 348 pointless back in 1989 just because the NSX is faster and better in every way with a cheaper price tag?
Would you dare to say a 911 Turbo S or GT2 or GT3RS are pointless just because a sub $100,000 dollar cars like Z06 and GT-R can offer the same performance?
