Acer 3820TG. i5-430M, 4GB DDR3, Intel GMA + ATI Mobility Radeon 5470.

Only costed me $700. Battery lasts over six hours on Intel graphics. Very light too at a little over three pounds.

A bunch of other RSers have this one too.

I think the VTX3, or any SSD for that matter is a very worthy investment on your computer be it laptop or desktop.

To give you an idea, it used to take about 50sec to boot up on the stock spinner and about 12sec on the vertex3. As for application start, you go from 3~5sec each to basically instantaneous. I have about 25 apps in my MBP and if I run the start command to load everything right after the OS is loaded, it takes about 20sec to have all the windows open from "gong" of MBP start sound.

This alone are worthwhile IMO. And I do some video editing for my friend on his footage from Canon 5DII. I can have 4 streams of 1080P videos simultaneously and no lag. If you work heavily with video or even photos (my entire LR3 library can be loaded under 5sec, and it's about 18GB of those that I keep in my SSD) I think Vertex3 is probably the best drive money can buy now. No other SSD, with the exception of some PCI-E based SSDs come anywhere close to the Vertex3.

With the SATAIII on new MBP, it's 500+MBs goodness!! :D

You are on RS everyday claiming all this shit you've got when are you going to prove it? Pictures don't shit, make a video with your RS username on everything you claim to have.

You wonder why you are the Resident Bullshitter?

Seriously, the markup on laptops is just not much.

I can reverse calculate the cost of every single laptop within 1~2% error from its retail price after having worked in that industry for some time. And on brands like Apple or Sony, where they have very strict price control, if you get 10% off asking for newly released model, you are lucky. And I mean at wholesale level. For a newly released model to be at 10~15% off wholesale price, you have to order containers worth of stock.

Assuming that each pallet fits about 64units, to fill a 20' containers, you have to order at least 500units. I have yet heard a company with 500+ execs that is not listed.

Senna4ever
05-09-2011, 05:24 PM
^^^ Actually, with Apple it's more like 5~6%. We used to be Apple dealers, but it just wasn't worth it when you're making $30 on a Mac Mini.
