I totally wrote this show off as a guilty pleasure and a Twilight Clone initially (and for most of the first season), but I'm really and genuinely impressed by where they've taken it.

Also. Damon has amazing eyes. I'm just saying. I could stare at Ian Somerhalder allllllll day. Now if we could get him over on Supernatural with the Jared P and Jensen Ackles, I don't think I ever need to watch anything else again. :P

^Seriously, Jared, Jensen are the hottest brothers in town. It was the sole reason I was still watching Gilmore Girls and Days of our Lives. LOL.

I was the same thing, watched Vampire Diaries cuz nothing was on, sort of got into it, guilty pleasure for most of Season 1. Mid-way through Season 2 it was like "wow" writers, I commend you, from teeny bopper to some serious stuff. And after the last episode....

Bonnie is sooo hot. Damon will be fine, I think it's just a way to introduce the possibility of Damon and Elena I think. Showing a sudden vulnerability in Damon and the only excuse to show old Damon.

Next week is the season finale.

Between Vampire Diaries, Nikita and Supernatural, the CW's grown a lot of balls this year and really shown that it's not just about cute people talking about their problems (a la Hellcats and One Tree Hill).

Vampire Diaries seems willing to kill off beloved characters to deepen the plot. Nikita's not once but twice now had major game changers that changed the formula and tempo of the show entirely and Supernatural's built a mythology that demonizes well... God and Angels and isn't afraid to be dirty or bleak and never shies away from the consequences of the character's actions.

I used to think the CW was a teenager's channel but I'm really loving these three shows.

I almost thought they were going to let Jeremy stay dead (and I kinda think that would have made a better impact) but I do look forwards to new haunted Jer.

Also. Stefan became a million times more interesting in the last few minutes of the show. I haven't really been interested in seeing him live for a long time. Now I wanna see what happens to him.

I think that Elena will stay close, making life hell for Katherine as ever. I think her line was "It's okay to love them both, I did." And really she was calling her out because I think deep down she does know Damon loves her and she does love him a bit (like god how could you say no to those eyes!).

As far as Stefan, I think what annoys me about him is he's essentially a slightly mellow Edward (who is the vampire I most hate in the history of vampires on film) when he's all lovey dovey.

When he's evil-ish he's interesting because he's got a legitimate conflict and potential for change/growth (and potentially spawning a spine or some balls).

The same was true of Angel back in the Buffy days. He was always more interesting to watch when he was either evil or actively needing to fight the urge to be evil.

I'm really interested to see what effect Stefan's absence has on Damon too. If he'll try and be good now or if he'll go back to being bad or what.

And I think something bad is going to happen to Bonnie for bringing Jer back from the dead.
