If anyone is thinking of getting Lasik done, Coal Harbor eye center is offering a $1000 discount on Lasik right now (for both eyes). It comes out to $1600 for 2 eyes, but you'll have to book fast, their 50% off promo started April 1 for first 500 appointments and when I called 3 weeks later, it was all over. Wait time is 2 months. Got mine in July, can't wait to get rid of these contacts!

was there a consultation fee or anything?

if promo is over, why post the deal now?

if promo is over, why post the deal now?

Because $1000 off means $2600 was the original price. The 50 percent off deal would have been $1300 for both eyes. Two different deals..

I wonder if my work's insurance covers any of this :fullofwin:

Lasik recovery is very quick, think the next day, just gotta follow your eye drop schedule. PRK is what takes a while to recover from. I had mine done at Pacific Laser Eye Center. Made this place look cheap but I don't mind paying good money for stuff I can't buy aftermarket parts for.

I wonder if my work's insurance covers any of this :fullofwin:

Some do some don't. You can claim it on your taxes though, don't get much for it though.

An ex of mine and my oldest brother both had theirs done there. They pre-screen to make sure you're actually able to get it done. Ex had Lasik, brother had PRK.

PRK is a longer recovery, but better if you're heavily into sports.

So how long until I can shoot the lasers back out of my eyes?

GabAlmighty

And to continue on that PRK > Lasik for sports. My doctor, shortly before my surgery, had just attended a conference where numerous doctors in the states were reporting that the "flaps" over the cornea's of numerous soldiers had opened back up while they were over in Iraq.

So how long until I can shoot the lasers back out of my eyes?

Approximately 6 months.

I went consultation at the Lasik Burrard location (i think is closed now), they are not helpful at all. They are just not professional for me.

So i went london eye center, wow what a difference. THey explained everything in detail, even compared the machine to what lasik is using. But at last, is the experience of london eye center which sold me. And he told me, most of the police officers and firefighters use london eye center. They also mentioned that they would never do discount on something like surgeries. Seems like the quality speaks for itself and that's why they don't do discount.

i had PRK for 3 years now, is one of the best investments so far. Also, they have a very good follow up schedule.

no consultation fee. if you're approved, u need to put in deposit of $300 for your appointment. If you're not approved for the procedure your money gets refunded. But I don't see the issue for that, if you're planning on going through with the procedure, I don't see why you would go to the consultation anyway.

How is London eye center? I heard coal harbor was better... people fly there from around the world to get it done. But they're all the same price now if there wasn't a discount (around $2500)

I got mine done at london place eye center about 6 years ago, no problems.
They have been doing lasik eye surgery for over 25 years, alot of sports teams and cops get it done there.

I had mine done at London Eye Centre about 2-3 years ago, never had a single problem. Top notch staff and equipment there, they are one of the few places that constantly have new updated equipment, many of the places buy their used machines from these guys when they get the new ones. Plus they take care of all the post-op in house no need to go see other doctors or anything.

For me PRK was the way to go, couldn't stand the thought of having my eye slit open with a blade. What's an extra 1-2 weeks of recovery time when dealing with something as precious as your eyes.

The thought of having the skin on the surface of my eyes dissolved or "brushed away" for PRK wasn't quite appealing either. :) Just glad I didn't watch any YouTube operation videos until after it was done.

I'm at a toss between Coal Harb, or London Eye . Which of these 2 should I choose? I really don't know anyone that has done this. So referral is kinda out of the question for me.

Coal Harb price is very nice, But the list of surgeons at London Eye is pretty impressive.
How much does London eye charge? anyone know since they don't advertise on the website.

I made an appointment for Coal Harbor when this thread started for a consultation and the earliest appointment I got was June 14th so surgery might be 2 months or more after that. And the surgery has to be done by Sept 30th to qualify for the discount. This is probably due to the 50% off promotion that just ended and this current promotion that's still active. I don't know anyone in real life that got theirs done there but the price is awesome and I figure I'll give it a try. Everyone I know in real life got theirs done at London Eye Center so I decided to give them a call as well on Monday and I got a consultation right away and surgery can be done as early as May 24th. I booked my surgery for May 30th. It cost $2500 but it's closer to me so doing check up would be more convenient and there's plenty of parking available. For referrals, you can put down a name mentioned in one of the eye surgery thread on revscene. Just do a search.
