Sherlock Holmes (BBC Mini Series)
I just finished watching the first season (read: 3 episodes)
I definitely recommend it. They're looong episodes though, like 90 minutes long, but really worth it. This is a modern remake of Sherlock Holmes, but with the same characters (Holmes, Watson), based in London. They live in the same flat (21b Baker St), with the same enemies that pop up.
Holmes' character is sorta like House, except even smarter.

Other way around ;) The Dr House character is based directly off Sherlock Holmes. Every House fan should read the books or at least watch this series!

Just started watching this show last week and I'm loving it so far! I loved the original novels, I loved the film (haven't seen part 2 yet) and I love House, so it was only natural!

Watched "The Reichenbach Fall" (adaptation of "The Final Problem") yesterday and I almost cried :tears:. It is brilliant. This Cumberbatch guy is probably the closest to Holmes since Jeremy Brett (I watched every single episodes of Brett).
This would have outsold 99% of the junk in theatres these days.
I think Holmes's conversation with Molly have something to do with Holmes being alive despite seen jumped from the building. Maybe he switched with a dead body when Watson walked toward the building the first time?

t'was an amazing episdode, definitely. I'm with you on that though, totally was close to tears.
I wasn't a huge fan of the 2nd episode in the 2nd season, but the finale really delivered.

Just finished season 2 today. Great adaptation since the Granada series.
Fans all over the world even started a "I believe in Sherlock Holmes" campaign.
Here are some things founds in Vancouver:

just finished the second season. Found it way more entertaining than the first. But all and all the whole series so far has been great.

Yep. The BBC series is awesome and I can't wait until the 3rd season airs.
Shame there's only 3 episodes per season.

each episode is an hour and 30 min, so they're basically like mini movies. i guess that makes it more reasonable, but damn i'm going through some sherlock withdrawals. no other series seems good enough for me to watch at the moment lol

Finally started watching this, after countless recommendations..
First episode was pretty good, although the mystery was a bit too obvious.
Second one, watching now, is fucking horrible.
Not sure why people rave about this show so much, at this point.

Have you read any original Sherlock Holmes stories? Part of what makes the BBC Sherlock so incredible is the way they've interpreted a modern-day Sherlock Holmes in a way that makes it seem as though Arther Conan Doyle did it himself.
Contrast it to the US show "Elementary", while a pretty good cop/detective/drama show, shares little to nothing except the character names to the original. Sherlock and Watson are 'all wrong'.
The BBC series gets even better once you meet Moriarty.

Yeah I'll give it another shot. Just thought it was such a really dull mystery, with some downright horrible caricatures :lawl:
