Not sure if repost, but...

The Freedriving Tour kicks off
June 17, 2011!

The Volkswagen Freedriving Tour is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to discover Autobahn-ready performance in conditions you'll never get on the road.

It's also a chance to be coached by a professional driver who'll be with you in the passenger seat to help you show your Volkswagen a good time. And it's free!

Location:
June 17-19, 2011

Coquitlam Centre
2929 Barnet Highway
Coquitlam, BC
V3B 0B9

http://vwexperience.ca/tour/en/

You get to choose which car and they might let you run more than 1.

I'm signed up for Sunday, June 19th @ 9:00 AM with a GTI. See you there?

I went last year, I only got to drive a GTI and the course was like..15secs long. The BMW ones were more fun, got to drive more cars and at least get a few runs in

I went today and had a blast.

The Tiguan was funner than GTI. You get to try out all the cars if you like.

:failed: totally forgot my appointment was yesterday

Do you know if you can just walk in and try?
How strict were they with the 25 years old thing?
Would it work for people that have full licences, but not yet 25?

I did not enjoy the gti. Eventhough they only had autos and it was at coquitlam center parking lot, I like my sx4 a lot more. The steering on my car feels a lot more responsive.

Maybe I Will test drive a standard gti one day just to compare it to the auto.

Way too packed for my liking. For some reason, I was naive enough to think that I would have the GTI all to myself for the hour that I signed up for.

For those of you who missed the event, the course was only 30 seconds long. But it was free and worth the experience. Thanks OP

Yeah, way too short and no manual transmissions.

With my first instructor, I asked him if the other GTI was manual because the one that I was sitting in was clearly an automatic. He simply said, "No, no. No manuals." Way to sell the car!

The second instructor explained to me that they had tried putting manuals in the freedriving tour a couple years back and they ended up burning out a lot of clutches, since they have to bring the cars across Canada and people just don't know how to drive them and encouraged me to go to a dealer and try one there.

I guess I was driving too slow to feel the turbo in the GTI? First turbo car that I've been in.
Can't go wrong with free! I'll be back next year when they get the Golf R for sure.

I went Saturday afternoon... I would say it was just barely worth the drive out there.

Took six laps total... one in each of the Tiguan, Passat Wagon, Golf Diesel, and three in the GTI.

Drove it as hard as I could though... screeching around the cones and mashing on the brakes to trigger ABS.

Was pretty fun, but definitely wish the track was a little longer.
