So, would Filipino count as hapa? I think most if not all Filipinos are decendants of mixed origin. My mother's family (Filipino) has Filipino, Chinese, Spanish, and Italian origins.
I hear that originally Filipinos were very dark skinned, almost black. But that could just be a myth.

watch the term Hapa turn into racial slang soon enough. I have always called mixed races
Multi-Racial I think that's the more proper terminology not some stupid slang word.

Unless the meaning has changed recently, hapa = half hawaiian, half not

An interesting thing to note is that these "Negritos" were all over Southeast Asia prior to the influx of an "Asian" wave of peoples that came from the mainland or from around the Malay Archipelago.
In the Philippines, these Negritos are primarily known as "Ati" or "Aeta", "Semang" in Malaysia and "Mani" in Thailand.
Population-wise, they are quite small in number present day but they do, indeed, exist.

Just want to add, asians are probably descended from negritos. We just changed once we moved north and then back south. There's black people still in southern Asia. eg Sentinelese people - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sentinelese_people)
