Super practical cars, there are quite a few too, I would probably spend a bit more and get one of the zx3/zx5 models because I love the look
A 2000 hyundai accent may fit in your budget, if you don't mind it's fit and finish that is...

DO NOT BUY A NEON for 2 g's. It'll be costing you much more then that in short order.

OP, you know insurance going cost you an arm and leg right?
You can't just get away by spending $2000 bucks and be able to drive on the road already....

Get this, small, no gas, good for the city and afforable. Then save some money and get a real first car.

Insurance + gas + maintenance is going to get you if you're really strapped for cash.
I had a lot of money before I got my first car. When I inherited a well mantained vehicle as a gift for free much of that extra money went away
But I have heard you folks in Montreal have very affordable insurance compared to us BC folk.
Best of luck

You're better off dropping the year 2000 requirement and getting something like this http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/van/ctd/2452732309.html

2000+ Saturn SL1/SL2/SC1 fits your bill. Fairly reliable, but you get what you pay for with loud engine noise.

my brother bought a kia rio 2003 for 1500, im sure i can find something okay for 2000. I dont live in the city so its getting to the city that is why i would need a car, biking just wouldnt work, it would take hours.
