Anyone here use Black Rapid straps? Looking to update from the neck strap. Lugging a DSLR around your neck hurts after a while, especially on day trips.

RCubed has one - I think he's looking to sell because he's got an extra... maybe. Ask him.
whatever you do, don't do a DIY strap.

I use one. Definitely way nicer then the original neck strap that comes with your camera. I did a hike with it too and it's pretty solid. Although I didn't really like the RS Sport strap that's in the picture. I found that the underarm strap is kinda irritating. I got the RS7 instead.

I <3 this strap. I tried Matsuda's strap and immediately bought one for myself.
I have a RS-5 for sale if you want it. PM me. ;)

I ordered the RS Sport. Forgot to tell them to ship UPS or Fedex.
Now it sits at Canada Post. fml.
At least it gets good reviews. I hate not bringing my camera out for the sake of not having to lug it around my neck

Hmm I need to order one of these too.
is that sport one just a rs7+BRAD strap? also, is the metal thing that screws onto the tripod hole the same as the FastenR-3 that they sell?

whats the difference between rs5 and rs7?
Is it just that the rs5 has more pockets?

Kerrisdale is overpriced in general. It's pretty bad when it's even more expensive than buying it from BlackRapid directly.

I'm using a Crumpler industry disgrace neck strap. Perhaps I should give the Blackrapid RS-5 a try. Time to go shopping!

^ They are moving to Lansdowne. I don't think you can go to Aberdeen as the store is pretty much empty.

Really?!?! When did they move? :\
Is it primary due to the price of rent?

^ Thank you lol
The Aberdeen location had a sale. It was mostly crap. All their bodies and lens are not really on sale. There were even cassette tapes! They have some tc for Canon and Nikon though. And maybe some old looking Tamron filters. I think I saw a Canon shutter release too.

whatever you do, don't do a DIY strap.
If a strap of equal quality can be replicated at less expense, why not? I'd be inclined to spend time/money making my own, especially if the original design can be improved or customized for my specific needs.

^I would listen to him if I were you. He speaks from experience. Lol
hahahaha. Yes - next time we have a photowalk, I can explain what went wrong.
Either way, I have my new connectors, etc - so I have the best of both worlds, my awesomely cool Crumpler Industry Disgrace Jam Croissant strap, mixed with the black rapid hardware. w00t!
now all i need is a new normal lens :(

I you were me you would know from experience to trust your own craftsmanship, not something mass produced in a factory by a kid getting paid 6 cents a day.
Before buying the latest and greatest products on the market, get creative and try coming up with something of your own. Creativity doesn't have to stop at the lens.

I'm happy with what I bought. I don't have the time to figure it on my own. Besides, its made in seattle. Lol

this sounds awesome. are these special connectors from BR? or DIY from a hardware store? i want to use the R-strap with my Optech one.
i bought the strap stuff from MEC. Originally, I was just using a plastic D-Ring as the slider, with a small strap in the original strap thing in where the straps originally went on the camera. The small strap came undone, and my camera came crashing to the floor. It was only about a foot off the ground though, but my lens was toast.
I now have the ConnectR-2 and the FastenR-3.
The actual straps from MEC are really easy to make though. Like the buckles and stuff - those will be fine. That small strap that I used wasn't a good idea... haha.

My RS Sport finally arrived yesterday. Fits great, with my gripped slr and a zoom lens, it doesn't feel heavy like it did around my neck. It feels like I am carrying a light messenger bag. I do find the strap that goes under the armpit annoying at times, as I don't foresee a need for it walking the streets of Vancouver. If I was hiking or climbing something, definitely needed. It is removable so I removed it for now

On the topic of straps, anyone have a Gordy wrist strap?
gordy's camera straps (http://www.electricedge.com/gordy_s_straps/wrist-string/index.htm)
Thinking of picking one up for my 7D, but I wish I could get metal split ring > string, as string could rip.

Yeah no way I'm trusting something like that for my dslr.
