Auto Sensing headlights: Auto or Manual

For those that have cars with stock HID's, auto sensing headlights, and park in a garage, do you leave them on Auto or turn it on/off manually?
Reason I ask is, I'm afraid that the HID's will burn out faster if it keeps flipping on and off during the time I enter/exit the garage.

if its stock ones i think its fine .. as it has a delay before it turns off ..
but if u got some crappy aftermarket ones .. i'd use manual

You should be ok if you leave it in auto. I'm sure the manufacturers thought about this when designing the headlights.

Read that it's best to leave it in manual, if u got aftermarket hid kit in there(comes with halogen low beam). SometimesOne side doesn't fire up.

i'm scared that they thought about it and figured it was a good way to make some $$$ on parts :)

Just cause you have it, doesn't mean you need it.

I never had issues with any of my cars equipped with factory HID's.
4+ years of abuse with no issues.
Aftermarket stuff might not be as nice, but hell they're cheap enough anyways. Bulbs from the dealer are like $300 each. Aftermarket is like $50/ea.

My headlights come on when I hit the unlock button on my remote if my switch is left on auto. This way at a dark parking lot, I can find my car with ease :D

I leave mine on auto, X3 left on auto for 70k kms had no issues, and yeah they would turn on for a few seconds as I parked into carport. Sometimes theres a delay and it doesn't turn on the HIDs though, but I know what you mean.
And like Cman said, HID bulbs are actually pretty cheap these days if you order from the right people

my oem acura hids flash on every time i unlock the doors.
and yes, i leave auto. the feature is there, why not use it. it turns on my fog lights automatically as well.

I leave it on auto, i don't think it'll burn out any quicker, plus it's a luxury i've come accustomed to, so i never turn on or off my lights.
